Chapter Seven
Saturday
I was nervous, yes, but not as nervous as I was the day I walked into Killingsworth Cafe.
I was confident I guess, I already had the date set up, and I was ready to go pick her up.
I adjusted the collar on my light blue button up shirt once more in front of the bathroom mirror before exiting the bathroom. Yes, I had a nice shirt on, but I was also wearing black skinny jeans, with no holes. You can't take my whole personality away.
I walked down the hall and slid on my black Vans, grabbing my phone and keys as well. I made sure to inform Venus to dress nicely for Fleming's Diner. Just as the old man said, it was fancy and it was smart that I made the reservation so ahead of time.
"Luke, where are you going all fancy?" My mother questioned, leaning against the door frame of her bedroom.
"A date." I spoke, making sure I did in fact put my phone and keys in my pocket, as well as my wallet.
"With who?"
"A girl named Venus. She works at Killingsworth Cafe." I informed her.
"Shouldn't I at least meet her before you get all fancy on me and go on a date?"
"No, you can meet her later."
"Okay, but make sure I do. A girl who gets you to wear jeans without holes in them is someone I've got to meet." She lightly laughed and I rolled my eyes.
"Alright." I walked towards the door and bidded her goodbye before heading out towards my car. It was dark out at seven thirty in the evening. It gave me a good half hour to spend picking Venus up and then another half hour to get to the restaurant.
I started the car engine and began my way down the street, I made the ultimate decision to stop by the flower shop, hoping it wouldn't be closed. Maybe Venus' friend would be there to help me out, since apparently she has some sort of flower sense or some shit.
I drove into the parking lot and parked my car, quickly hopping out and jogging towards the door. I was very short on time. I attempted to open the front door but it was locked. I looked through the glass and that Maisey girl was just standing there. I banged on the door until I got her attention and she came running towards me, unlocking it.
Maisey's Pov.
"I hope you know that we close at six thirty." I smirked, leaning against the doorway.
"I had no idea." He laughed.
"What brings ya around this corner of town?"
"Gonna' buy some flowers." Venus. Luke has always tried his hardest to get her flowers and plan the most perfect dates. It's not even fair honestly, that she gets someone perfect. She's just going to close herself off to him like she does everybody else.
"Alright." I sighed, moving out of the way and back behind the counter.
"Why are you here so late anyways?" He asked, leaning his elbows against the counter.
Why was I here late? Mostly because I knew they were going on a date and this was the only place where I could be accepted and not bombarded by people bragging to me about how their lives were perfect. "I had nothing else to do." I shrugged.
