I was in the candy castle brushing my teeth, and singing the dorky sing that had popped in my head in this specific moment of boredom. I tried not to drip toothpaste on my black tee shirt as I danced and sang in front of the mirror.
"🎶Brush your teeth🎶
🎶Brush em right🎶
Because horrors live in 🎶cavities🎶
And they come out 🎶at night!🎶"
Once I spit the paste into my blue sink, I heard a loud clang from my adjoined bedroom. I froze and felt my heart start racing. I suddenly felt extremely exposed in my underwear and tee shirt as I slowly opened the bathroom door wider and peered into my bedroom. "Uh... Hello?" My king bed was illuminated by the window and the room I had always felt comfortable in during the nighttime was creeping me out. I saw on my desk next to the window that a beaker filled with green chemicals had spilled over my papers. "Anyone there?" I called out again shakily. I cautiously walked towards my window. It was open, meaning someone had climbed through. I closed the window quickly and then closed my curtains. I turned around sharply and saw the figure on my bed. I jumped as I recognized the person sitting there. "Oh God! I'm in my underwear!" I pulled one of the curtains over my exposed lower body and turned bright red. Marshall remained silent, looking at the ground with his hands in his lap. "Marshall Lee?! What the fuck?!"
He didn't even acknowledge my presence as I slowly realized that he wasn't here jokingly. "Marshall...?" The blush had faded from my cheeks considerably and I finally felt the cool breeze left over from when the window was open. I tried to read Marshall's expression from the window, but I couldn't see his eyes through the shaggy dark bangs going across his face. I started becoming worried, he hasn't even said anything. "Marshall... Wh-What are you doing here?" I spoke slowly, my eyebrows furrowing in concern. His eyes, his beautiful red eyes, slowly looked towards me.
"I..." His cheeks showed a faded pink as he looked back down towards his lap, embarrassed. "I don't..." Again, he avoided my stare and focused on the wall. "I don't know." I sighed and dropped the curtain. He looked at me surprised, as I sat next to him at the foot of my bed. He scratched his neck and looked away again. I placed my hand slightly behind where he was sitting and scrunched my fingers into my pink sheets, trying to focus my energy and nerves there. I brushed my light brown hair out of my face and continued to look at him, waiting for him to talk again, the worry growing on my face.
"Did... Something happen?" He continued staring into the space ahead of him. "You wanna talk about it?" He looked towards the wall again. I was getting tired of this. He wasn't talking, just looking anywhere but where I was sitting. I huffed in frustration. "If you're not going to talk then could you please-"
"I'm sorry" He cut me off, turning red. He finally looked at me, his eyes glowing in the moonlight. "I...I'm sorry. I just..." He placed his hand on his forehead, pushing his bangs forwards so I could see how distraught he looked. "I needed to talk to you about something." He sighed, letting his hand fall back to his lap.
My frustration with him disintegrated once I saw his face. "Yeah..?" I encouraged him to keep going.
"Do you... Do you ever feel so alone...that you doubt your own existence?" The heavy words hit me harder than I thought they would. I was suddenly extremely nervous. I chewed on my lip as I tried to answer the question.
"Marshall, I... I don't understand what you-"
I saw the tears in his eyes before I heard it in his voice.
"Of course you don't." He got up off the bed, his arms crossed and his head low. "This was a stupid idea..."
I got up quickly as well, desperate to keep him talking to me. "Marshall I get it!"
"No you don't!" His outburst scared me. He turned around towards me and I saw the dark tears streaming down his cheeks. "You haven't lived as long as I have..." Suddenly his whole face contorted as the red in his eyes was almost blinding, shining from the tears overflowing from them. He looked like he was about to rip me to shreds and I felt a shudder run through my spine once I saw his mouth open again. "You don't know what it's like to watch everyone you know grow old and forget you and die." He stressed the last word of his sentence. "I put that on my soul. And one day you'll forget me too and leave, like everyone else." I stood there shocked at his words, not sure what to do. His face slowly fell and his eyes faded as he wiped the tears that fell from his eyes in his sudden burst of anger. He looked at my scared facial expression and I could see the sadness and guilt in his eyes. Finally he spoke again, dropping his head, closing his eyes. "I'm sorry. I'll leave." He said so quiet I almost didn't hear it.
He walked towards the window, about to open it and leave, the one thing I didn't want. My head snapped towards his direction and my eyebrows met again. "Marshall!" I yelled and he turned back slowly to face me. I could see the left over tears in his eyes. I walked slowly towards him and placed my hands gently on his chest. I gripped the edges of his hoodie as I brought my mouth to his. I felt his eyelashes flutter close against my cheek. I pulled back slightly. "I won't forget about you, Marshall Lee." My bare feet were sandwiched between his red converse, we stood so close. His hands gripped my wrists as he brought my hands to his face. I let my palms curve around his cheekbones as I used the pad of my thumb to wipe the tears that were falling down to his fangs. His red eyes met mine, they were darker than earlier and they were all I could see. Before I could say anything else, Marshall had gripped my shoulders and pulled me towards him again, forcing me to prop my upper arms on his shoulders and let my hands dangle, my fingertips brushing the curtains behind us. Our lips crashed together more desperately this time. We stumbled to the side and back against my desk. Marshall brushed away my notes to make room for him to lean on it. His hands gripped my shirt and my arms had wrapped around his neck instinctually. His tongue twirled along mine before I broke the kiss to pull his black hoodie off. Once it had fallen to the floor, his eyes peirced mine, filled with list as he reattached our lips, stumbling us towards my bed. He pushed me back onto it, so that I was on my back, propped up by my elbows. I gripped the sheets for the second time tonight as he rested his knees on either side of me to give him better access to my flushed neck. He sucked and left hickies for a bit before grabbing my chin between his thumb and index finger and bringing our lips together, more gently this time. The kiss pushed my back flat against the bed, making me completely vulnerable to him. He started moving down and I threw my head back, panting while he pulled up my shirt just enough to expose my breasts before kissing down the center of them. He worked his way down my stomach before brushing his fingers against my soaked underwear. I finally realized exactly what we were doing and my eyes popped open. I grunted "W-Wait...! Stop!" Marshall's head popped back up as he looked at my bright red face, surprised. He pulled away, confused, as I quickly covered my face with my hands. I looked up again and saw him hovering in front of me, a hurt expression on his flustered face. I tried to explain, "Marshall...I-" Suddenly there was a knock at my bedroom door, startling me. The doorknob jiggled as my breathing stopped, panic taking over my thoughts. Peppermint Maid opened the door and stuck her large head through the crack. "My lordess? Is everything okay?" I pulled my blanket up over my lower half and quickly answered. "Y-Yes, Pepper! Everything's fine. Thank you g-goodnight!" I heard Peppers voice once more. "Well...okay goodnight, Princess." She then cautiously closed the door and I heard the click before turning back over to Marshall. He was gone. My window was open and I shivered at the night breeze now flowing through my room. In a daze I got off my pink bedding and did a once over just to be sure. "... Marshall?" He was actually gone. I walked to my window and looked at the moonlight sadly, before closing it and then and the pulling the curtains together. I walked back to my bed and noticed his hoodie laying on the ground. I picked it up and folded it neatly, placing it on my desk and quickly wiping up the spilt chemicals from earlier. Then I climbed into bed and pulled the sheets over my body. My eyes stayed open as I stared at the wall across from me.
