it was Friday and everyone was talking

about going to the skating rink that

night. skating was "the thing" to do. i

was in fifth grade and not really the shy

kind of person. "are you going skating

tonight kendall?" emily asked me.

yeah, probably." I answered back.

there's this really cute boy that comes

skating a lot. I'm pretty sure he

skateboards too, which is pretty cool.

but he had a girlfriend. he's been dating

her for a while now. I don't think he

even notices me. I think his best friend

has been telling him I like him. I don't

even know this kids name. I just get

nervous looking at him.

"hey Jacob!" I yelled to his best friend.

"come here." I motioned to him,

laughing. "yeah, what's up?" Jacob

replied to me. "who's that boy you're

hanging out with?" I pointed to the boy

I really did like. "chandler?" he asked.

"yeah, him." I said, smiling. "he knows

you like him kendall." Jacob said,

laughing and smiling. I immediately

started freaking out. I really did like

this boy. but he had a girlfriend and

he's probably not even in to me.

I tried talking to chandler but I just

couldn't without feeling so nervous. I

was really in to him. he was still dating

the same girl. I had a feeling they we're

going to be together for a long time. I

pretty much felt like giving up at this

point.

"he probably doesn't notice me because

I'm in fifth grade and he's in seventh." I

kept telling myself. I wasn't about to

give up. if you really want to be with

someone you will wait and stay

hopeful. skating was to the point where

I only came to see him. it didn't matter

that he had a girlfriend, just seeing him

made everything...perfect.
