Chapter Fifteen

Chapter fifteen: old friend

I wake up to find Michaela asleep next to me and Audrey driving in the front.

I look at the clock as she pulls into a hotel and Michaela wakes up and it's ten thirty seven.

"We are almost there but I think we should rest first." Audrey says turning off the car.

"But we don't have any money." Michaela points out.

"I checked the dash board for loose change and found twelve hundred dollars cash!" Audrey says and all of our eyes widen in amazement.

"I guess that makes since, I mean they are spies." I say still in shock of how much money they keep in their dash board.

"I already called while you all were asleep so I reserved a two bed for one night, ninety three dollars." Audrey says and shrugs. "We can pay them back later."

"Okay, let's go." I say as we all get out of the car and walk up to the front desk where Audrey checks us in. We take the elevator up to level six and once inside our room we all plop down onto the beds and fall asleep right away.

I wake up to find Audrey asleep and Michaela getting out of the shower. "Morning Caroline." Michaela says walking out of the bathroom in the same clothes she wore yesterday.

"Morning." I reply. "I think I'm going to take a shower too. When Audrey gets up we should go shopping for new clothes. I think I saw a mall on the way up here, maybe we can stop there for some more appropriate attire."

"Okay," she starts. "I'll get everything ready to go and let Audrey sleep a little more." She says as I turn into the bathroom to take a shower. "How are you?" she asks. "I mean how are you holding up?"

"Fine." I say not turning around. She doesn't say anything as I start my shower and shut the door behind me.

I step into the running water and feel the water burn against my back again. Luckily it's not as bad as the first time I took a shower but it definitely hurts.

I think about how I'm going to find James I mean this doesn't really make since. Why on earth would he be at my friend Alex's house. Alex's dad is my parents' boss and the founder of whatever company they work for all I know is that every year we have to visit them and I hang out with Alex while our parents are in meetings. At least I get to buy new dresses before we go.

I wait for Audrey to shower and then we all get ready to discuss the plan.

"Okay, so I was thinking and you two aren't really supposed to be at this meeting thing. The house we are going to has many maids and servants so I was thinking you could pose as servants?" I say hoping they like the idea.

"You're right! We could have gotten in so much trouble! Wait," Audrey starts but pauses, then continues, "did you just say servants?"

"Yeah." I say nervously. "How else are you guys going to get in there."

"Okay I guess that will have to do." Audrey sighs.

We walk into the mall and split up to different stores to pick out our different outfits. I head into a Nordstrom and they head into Maid Heaven. My mom said to look nice and when she says look nice she means formal.

I move to a section that has a large dress selection and pick out four before going into the dressing room to try them on. The first one I try on is a bright green one shoulder dress that cuts off before the knees. It's got ruffles around the shoulder and the edge of the material which is pretty but just isn't me so I put it in the no pile. Next I try on a royal blue dress that brings out the blue in my eyes. It's got a pretty back that is covered in lace that my skin shows through. I try on a bright pink dress that is strapless that looks so pretty on. It flares out a little from the waist down and stops just before the knees. I put it with the blue one in the yes pile. The last dress I try on is a beautiful scoop neck black dress that is really fitting and covered in lace ruffles all the way to my knees. I buy the three dresses and a pair of shoes for each one before meeting the girls outside to get ready to find James.
