Confrontation

I gasp in horror and desperately ask, "what do you mean he doesn't exist?! Haven't you checked his character file?!"

"I did. I couldn't find him. My guess is, he's been deleted", she says glumly. 

I shake my head and ask, "is there a way to get him back?" 

She nods and says, "he hasn't been deleted permanently. Whoever did this, is like us. A god. And since you weren't manipulating anything and neither was I, we need to know who deleted him. The villagers didn't seem to have anything to do with it either. I mean, I'd know if there was a god close by. To get him back we need to find out who is behind the screens..."

Suddenly, I snap out of my meditative state as Ky yells, "change of plans! We're landing here." "Umm...let me guess...you picked up a Kairu signal?", I ask. He nods and I shrug.

"So...this person...they have to be close to us...somebody who knows us...somebody who wants us gone...if it's Lokar or the E-Teens, there's no way they could obtain such power in such a little amount of time. This is insane!", I yell at the voice, in my head.

Unknowingly, I yelled the last sentence out loud and everybody turned towards me. "You okay? You haven't exactly been acting...umm..."normal" lately. Ever since the evacuation, you're acting strange", Maya asks me, concerned about me. I hold my tears in and sigh, "I'm...okay...just a bit confused." 

I stare at the floor and Maya walks away to the screen. 

I'm an idiot.

...After landing...

We land a few short minutes and the Kairu's actually further than the one we'd found before. "I'm sensing it from there...", Maya mumbles while holding her hand out in front of her.

We walked over in that direction and look around when Ky hears something. He turns around and yells, "GET OUT HERE ZANE!" Maya and I turn around and got on our guard for an attack.

Sure enough, Zane, Zair and Techris jumped out from behind a few bushes and got out in the open plains. "That Kairu is ours! So back off Stax!", Zane points at us and yells. 

All of a sudden, my ears start ringing and there was a loud, high-pitched beep that makes me feel like my head was going to explode.

I clutch my head and fall on my knees. I got the feeling of something wrong happening and got the urge to run. 

"Kaya!", Ky yells and tries to talk to me. I grab him by the shoulders and say, "we need to run. NOW!" "What are you even talking about? What's going on?!", Ky asks, clearly scared.

"Umm...guys? Why is there a shadow creature forming behind Zane?", Maya asks while backing away in fear. 

I gasp and yell, "ZANE BEHIND YOU! RUN NOW!" 

He turns around and the three of them scream when they see the creature. I quickly summon my soul in my palms, clench my fists and felt that same sharp pain throughout out my body. I get my wings back, and quickly changed my element-bending to 'All' in my character file in a second and fly in front of Zane.

I blow the creature back with a wind gust and buy us some time to get out of there. "We need to run. Try not to scatter. Find a place to hide out, I'll buy you guys some time! GO!", I yell at all of them. Ky and Zane glare at each other but agree to go anyway. 

They run off in one direction together while I face off with the creature. 

That creature is black but a bit purple and starry. It has four legs and looks like a wolf. I could tell it was no ordinary wolf, any human could tell. It's teeth, razor sharp and it's voice deep and gruff. There was a pattern on it's fur. A 'Shadow of the Colossus' type of insignia on the top of its head was glowing wildly.

It roars and completely ignores me. It runs off behind the others and I fly after it. I use Earthbending to make a huge wall around it so it couldn't get anywhere. I trap its feet by binding it's paws to the ground by using my earthbending again.

I put my hand on the insignia and immediately connect with the spirit of the creature.

"I thought you had no soul to be honest", I chuckle. I could swear I heard someone's echoed screams and while I was there. 

I keep walking and run into a soul that had an 'I have been corrupted' vibe. I try to touch the soul but immediately get pushed back into my body...something about that soul gave off a strange vibe.

I scream and back off. The creature somehow breaks free and puts the walls down, just by stomping on the ground...like an Earthbender...

I'm speechless and confused but I had to protect my friends. 

The creature was still a bit stunned and I manage to find everybody, hiding in an area close to the borders of the forest. 

"Kaya, we need explanations. Is it gone? AND WHAT IS HAPPENING?!", Zane yells impatiently. "I'll explain when I need to. Right now, back off. I'm getting you guys in a safe place", I tell him.

I rub my hands and use Earthbending to create a shallow ditch. I tell them to get in and I make an Earth wall around them while they got in.

The creature comes charging towards me and I take a deep breath. "Come at me, you piece of sh*t."

It steps close enough for me to trap it in a ball of air and I manipulate the energy of the creature, causing it to...hard reboot...to put it simply

I let it down on the ground and it goes into a black portal somewhere. I can't follow it but I don't really want to, all that much either.

I get everyone out of the ditch and Ky and Maya hugged me. Zane, Zair and Techris are still confused but Zair and Techris thank us for our help. (Ky and Maya got them somewhere safe)

"Whatever. You saved our butts this time, but this doesn't mean we're friends or anything. Got it?", Zane snarls at me. I shrug, "hey, whatever man. Listen, we'll do you a solid and let you take the Kairu this time. Okay?"

Maya looks at me like I was crazy. "What? You know what Lokar may be up to right? What if he's trying to jumpstart his plan again?", Maya whispers in my ear. 

"We've got what we need. I bet I can explain everything. Let them win this one. This time, getting Lokar's plan to fail, is gonna be a hell of a lot easier. Besides, this is way more important. What if those monsters are key to...whatever is going on?", I reply to her.

Maya sighs and gives me a look that says 'I trust you so I'll let you do this'
