Error 404 RAU (Redakai Alternate AU)

Kaya's POV

I unknowingly wake up on the floor of the monastery with no memory of what just happened. Suddenly, it clicked. 

The colossus. The fight.

...Maya...

"CRAP NO-", I get up and run off to the cliff, ignoring the fact that the damage on us and the monastery was erased. I look below and there was no sign of her or the creature being there. Nothing unusual, just sand.

I look around to find Ky and I manage to find him when he was trying to wake up from the impact. 

I run over to him and help him get up. I ask him if he was okay and he says that he remembers something about a colossal creature just attacking us. 

There's one way of knowing she was alive.

I sifted through my X-Reader frantically and for some reason...I had all of Boomer's X-Drives. I don't have hers. 

"Ky! Give me your X-Reader. Now!", I yell. He hands it over to me and I sifted through it, hoping I couldn't find Maya's.

Just when I was about to conclude that she was okay and neither of us had her X-Drives, BAM! I find all of her X-Drives. She was gone too.

I drop the X-Reader and freeze in place. I put my hands on my mouth and immediately felt sick to my stomach. I scooch away from Ky and clench my fists. 

A second later, I broke down and started crying while screaming in frustration. 

"I COULD'VE SAVED HER! 

I BLEW IT! 

I COULD'VE LET HER LIVE!", I yelled.

Ky tries to get me to calm down but I couldn't listen to him over the sounds of my own cries. 

Eventually, he hugs me and I keep crying softly. I hug him back and mumble, "she's gone...she's really gone..." He asks, "who is she?"

I pull back in surprise but immediately sigh and say, "you...forgot her...of course you did. What did I expect? I'm cursed to remember. I'll tell you everything...everything you need to know." I hold his hand and get up on my feet. I help him get up too.

As I talk to him, I notice the damages to the monastery were gone, Ky and I were both healed and nobody knew a thing...

I really am cursed to remember every fine detail of their deaths, aren't I?

"She sounds...amazing...", he mumbles after I finished talking about her. "Her screams are still echoing in my head and I...ugh...why do I have to be this way?", I whisper to myself. He hugs me again and I look over at the beach.

Sunset.

"I'm going back now", I tell Ky in a glum tone as I turn to head back to the X-Scaper. 

"You're not going to-" 

"No...I just remembered that I have some people to meet. Some for answers, others for...well...to get my mind off of things", I tell him.

I walk into Maya's room and feel a huge wave of guilt. My eyes well up but I wipe my tears off and walk into it. I sit in the middle and meditate. Her room always had the most peaceful atmosphere with the sounds of rushing water and a beautiful, natural ambience. Now, it's a heartbreaking one.

I close my eyes and try to focus.

"Oh you came to me first instead of going to-"

"Does this mean Maya's going to try to kill us now too?", I mumbled.

The god version of me sighed and said, "sadly, yes..."

I sigh and fold my arms while clutching my sleeves tightly. I shiver and ask, "anyway to get them back?"

"Yes...I'm still working on it. If there's a way we could make it to that mysterious creature-controlling bitc- LADY...we can still manage to get them back. But, I need some time to find her hiding place. Luckily, you fighting that creature and getting to its insignia might give me some time to go back in time, get inside its head and get me some info. Sound good?"

"Anything to bring them back. I'll even die to bring them back..."

"You won't have to die for this one y'know."

"If I did have to, I would gladly do so."

"Heh..you are one crazy determined goddess aren't ya?"

"Half-Goddess"

"Not at your full power! At your full power, you can do so much more than that cloaked lady. Simple file manipulation right now (having to contact one's soul to manipulate a file in half goddess form) would turn into full on control of anyone you choose."

"As amazing as that sounds, I want to control no one. I just want my friends back."

"I know...you'll get them back. You have me. And Ky."

"Tch. Ky? I need to tell him who his own lifelong friends and teammates were. How can he help?"

"Give him a part of your soul, you'll see what he can do."

"What about me?!"

"You idiot. You'll trade fragments of each other's souls of course! Use your brain!"

"Okay but why?"

"He'll be able to check in on you, help you get to that clocked bi- LADY! GOD WHY DO I KEEP DOING THAT?! Anyway, he'll help you get to that cloaked lady behind the scenes and make it easier for you to get a hold on your friends to free them."

"You are smart."

"Half of you, still more of me. Haha."

"Pssh. Whatever, let me know when you are done with the whole thing okay?"

"Gotcha. Now go do whatever", she smiles at me and opens the portal to another universe. "Go on now. You need a break from this. Have fun. Bye!"

"Bye!", I wave her bye and walk through the portal.

I find myself in a room and wave at my two...umm...I want to say friends but it might sound a bit off. Because we're different but also similar. 

"Heeyy! I hope we didn't interrupt anything."

"No! You didn't. Glad to be here. I need this. Hope I'm not late", I reply to them.

"You're not. Don't worry! Let's get started, eh?"

"Alright.."
