Still reeling from the events from the past year, I say goodbye to Harry as he drops me by my door before opening it and walking in.

"And where have you been?" Mrs Hudson asks, standing at her doorway, arms crossed.

I smile. "Sorry Mrs H, I had a case."

"Come here," she says, holding her arms out. "You, Holmes, will be the death of me. I was worried sick."

"I know," I say. "I'm sorry. I was called away last minute." She sniffs me and I laugh. "Yeah, I've just come from a bit of a fight. I'll go upstairs and wash - I'll be down in a bit."

"Okay dear," she says, letting go. "I'll put some tea on for you."

A little while later, I come out of the shower and turn the TV on while I gather the motivation to dry my hair.

"I'm here at Stonehenge, for what has been an interesting unfolding of events today," the news report says. I don't look up, currently occupied by the 1000+ notifications that have just rung up on my phone now I've turned it on. "The police reported the scene shortly after 11 a.m. this morning," they continue, "after a seemingly harmless rambler approached the area then started to strip naked and effectively terrorise tourists there with scientific equipment while shouting that he was trying to save them. The man later identified as noted Astrophysicist Doctor Erik Selvig has been called in for questioning by police." My eyes shoot up as the camera freeze-frames the face of Selvig, naked and running around as the police try to catch him. He must be experiencing the after-effects of Loki's mind control.

My phone starts to buzz and I look down. It's Lestrade. I pick it up.

"Lestrade?"

"Sophie, you're back!" he exclaims. "Sorry," he continues after a moment, calming down. "I've been calling you about once a week and I've been over several times. No one's seen you in about a year - where've you been?"

"On a case," I say, giving him the same answer as I gave Mrs Hudson. No one can know about the magical world. "What've you got for me?"

"Mycroft told me to call you - apparently it's a case involving the New York incident a last year."

"The Erik Selvig one?" I ask.

"No," Lestrade replies, and I narrow my eyes. "We've had a missing person called in: an American astrophysicist, Jane Foster. According to Mycroft, she's had dealings with Thor."

Two astrophysicists in the same day, both connected to Thor? This can't be a coincidence.

"Where are you now?"

"The Old Vinyl Factory in Hayes." I grimace. The other side of London.

"Okay, bare with - I'll be there as soon as I can." I come off the phone and head straight to my bedroom to change. I trot down the stairs a few minutes later. "Sorry Mrs Hudson, I'm off out."

"But your tea's nearly ready!" she calls from the kitchen.

"Sorry - I've got a case. Not sure how long I'll be. See you soon!"
