Ghoulish ways

No rest

Hide and Kaneki have been dating for just the past month. They didn't know how they were going to make it work, they just knew they would. They've been in each others lives for a long time so naturally they grew close, untik finally Hide asked Kaneki out.

It was a chilly November night and the two boys had went out to a movie, dinner was out of the question since Kaneki even has a hard time keeping it down long enough to leave the restaurant. As they were walking down the street Hide had been fumbling with the note he had in his pocket. It was a love letter he'd written months ago but never gave to him. After Kaneki's incident and being turned into a ghoul, he never knew when the appropriate time was.

Kaneki never was the observant type but having the eye patch also hindered his view in a more literal sense. The dark haired boy had his hands stuffed in his pocket, and his chin hidden under the neck of his jacket. Hide decided now would be as good of a time as any, "Hey Kaneki," the words fumbled out and Hide's voice got shaky.

Kaneki turned and faced Hide but kept walking. Hide stared at his feet as he stood in the chilly air.

"Whats the matter Hide?" Kaneki began to get a little worried,  and decided to walk back over to the blonde haired boy.

Hide grabbed the note out of his pocket and handed it over to Kaneki while still staring at his feet. Kaneki slowly unraveled the paper, expecting the worse he read to himself:

Dear Kaneki,

I've known you for a long time now and I think its time I've done something. I've always liked you... I don't mean that in like the sense of "You're a cool guy," even though you are I mean it in the, "I think I love you." kind of way. I think I've always had those feelings for you. The way things are now I don't know how to feel or how you feel. So much has changed and I'm so sorry. Maybe if I had told you sooner things would have never been this way, you'd still be human. I just feel like I can be myself with you and you'd still love me no matter what I did. I haven't gotten rid of you and I don't plan on it, but if you don't want to acknowledge my feelings then I'm okay with that just please don't stop being my friend.

Kaneki looked up at the boy, the blonde haired boy who had always been by his side. Always stuck with him and was his voice. The same boy who now stands a  few inches away and has tears im his eyes.

Hide had so many thoughts running through his head but he couldn't quite grasp the whole situation. He just knew that he didn't want to lose his most important friend. In that moment Kanekis arms wrapped around Hide as he began sobbing as well. When Kaneki pulled away and looked at Hide in the eyes they both just smiled at each other.

Kaneki broke the silence by saying, "Hide, I am Human."

Hide smiled a bit more as the two shared their first kiss, even in the world of Ghouls they intend to make it work.
