A CALLING

Today was the last of the weekend.  I just couldn't wait for spring break I didn't even care about school anymore or who is even in it well, except for Lee-Jin.

Dance practice was canceled today and Mom was at work ,so I practiced in my room since I had a  full mirrored closet door.

I made sure that Heobeul wasn't in the way.

When I was after seeing my spin, I saw my jewelry box fly across the room because my hand swung.

Heobeul woke up faster than his ears could flop back down on his head. He tilted his head looking confused.

Oh nooo!

I ran to the jewelry box that had fell open across the room and picked it up quickly.
I examined it to check if anything was broken.

Nothing.........

But what I did see is my necklace.....

My Father had gave it to me the day I was born when my Mom and I were split in different rooms of the hospital.

When I found the necklace on the floor, it was cracked open.

Oh no!

I opened it some more and looked at it.....

I plopped on my bed.

There was a picture inside....
Dad
Mom
Me.

We were so happy......

A tear dropped down from off my cheek.

I never knew how important this necklace was until now.

*Sometimes, the littlest things have such great value, but nothing else does like love.*

That lingered in my mind.

My grandma told me that when I to spend my summer with her on day.

But why did my elders always tell me these things??
It was like some kind of calling.

I laid down on my bed and looked out the window.

"Heobeul, Will you stay by my side??" I asked.
I picked him up and put his face near mine while closing my eyes.

I smiled at him with the tears still slowly coming down my face, one by one.

I decided to take him for a walk.

I went to the park, then I went to the dog cafè.

When I came back home, Mom was still gone.

Heobeul and I were playing with his chew toys when she finally came home.

"Hey come help me with this outside Yenney" Mom said.

It was HUGE.

" what is this Mom??" I asked.

"You'll see." She explained.

It had a really dark cover over it and it was really heavy as he moved it into the loft area of the house.

She pulled the cover off.

"Piano" she said.

"Not just any piano Mom, a GRAND piano!" I exclaimed.

"But why d——"

"Your Aunt and I's old great great great Mother had it in her old storage room."

" I got a new dress the other day about her storage since it's so old. She told me to give it to the next generation of our family. She wanted her antiques to move on to share"

She explained.

" so why give it to me?"

"Why not you?"

" because she wanted it to go to your generation to someone that has potential in them"
She said

I-I have potential??
In what?
————————————-
———————
"I'll be right back I'm gonna go make dinner" she said.

I dusted off the piano as it had not a single scratch.
It was a glossy dark brown color.
Was beautiful.

I opened the top part to dust when I saw a note.....
"Kim-Hoon." It was my Moms name. "let this family antique live on and give it to someone with potential in a life of Opportunity"
It was like a calling....

That's it??
Thats all it said?
————————————-
The paper was a A dingy beige color with little light brown spots on it. Coffee maybe?

I tried to play the piano.
I always tried to play when I felt down.

I never stopped trying.

Are usually played it when Mom was gone out of the house.
As I went to sleep that night I pondered.

But what kind of calling??
Happiness?

But what kind of calling??Happiness?
