The bus is long gone and the both of us stand in front of Kevin's house. Which is right directly in front of mine. Kevin opens the door and walks in first. I trail behind with my backpack and phone in hand to be scared by a little rodent in the house.
"Hello! I'm Celia" The small blonde girl screamed. Fuck off and go rip off your dolls hair, would you? I snarled at her but realized that the three of us weren't the only ones in the house.
"Hi, Celia! I'm Irene" I blurted out loudly and exaggerated her name. I showed off my million dollar smile at her and stood straight to where Kevin was at. There, a middle-aged woman stood looking very confused and unstable. Her eyes open widely and her pixie cut making her cheekbones pop with a grayish hue to them.
"Good afternoon Mrs. Khatchadourian, I'm Irene" I introduced myself walking closer to the counter she was working on. She wipes her hands on her towel and hands me her hand that was quite frankly, very shaky. I took it in and bowed lightly.
"It's part of my culture to bow to those who are elder to me" I stated still smiling. It was as if she just couldn't find hers. That was until Kevin came from behind me and took my hand. She seemed pleased. Upset and scared. So Kevin really is a mess.
"We'll be upstairs. With the door closed" He added the last part and dragged me up the stairs. He shoved me into a small, navy colored and neat room. Nothing looked out of order. He closed the door behind and sat on his bed. Still no creases were evident. Just how perfect was this toy?
"So I heard you liked the drums and the clash" he pointed out once hearing to one of my old playlists on the bus. I nodded slightly unamused. I thought his room would be cooler. But mine isn't much either, just with velvet red colored walls with tiny stars on them. My mom said I would love it. So far I've drawn frowny faces on 6 of them.
"And I heard you liked archery" I shrugged sitting down next to him on the bed. What gave it away? The big ass target right outside his window and the bow and arrows that were neatly stacked in the corner of his room.
"I'm great at it too. Let's go" he rushed out grabbing the equipment and walking down the stairs. It took me a while to process the information. My backpack drops on his bed and I flatten down my school girl uniform. When I got downstairs both his family members weren't there but the transparent sliding door was wide opened. I walked out and saw Kevin there pulling on his bow. Evidently, he had placed on a pair of leather gloves.
He heard me come out and raised his bow. I walked around the corner and was greeted with such an amazing view of a forming v line right beneath one of Kevin's tight baby shirts. I pinched the side of my palm and tried looking at the target. In an instant, the tip of the arrow hit right into the center. Bullseye. 10 points for the amazing v line.
"Are you going to try or what" he muttered placing his bow to his side. I grabbed my hair and placed it into a ponytail. What he doesn't know is I have an obsession with slingshots. I collect them and use them whenever I need to let my frustration out on something.
"Well you gotta teach me" I mentioned grabbing the weapon and placing an arrow on it. I rolled my neck around and bought the arrow up. "Alright, come on Kevin I don't know what the hell I'm doing," I told him staying in the exact position. A patch of warmth lands on my right hip and the same warmth rises to my hands.
Kevin is now completely hovering over me as I wait for instructions.
"You're too tense, how are you suppose to shoot an arrow like that?" he scolded me. I'm not stupid nor am I tense. It's just his heavy breath that makes this uncomfortable. As much as I'd like that on my neck, I'm currently trying to prove a point here and he's not letting me. His right hand pressed against mine to make the tip of the arrow stay on the surface of the bow.
"Whatever Kevin, just step away from me. I'm a big girl. I can do it" I declared stomping my feet 'til he backed up. I fixed my position and closed my left eye to look directly onto the center of the target. I pulled back and waited. I waited for the moment and let the arrow go. I stumbled slightly at the force and looked up at the platform. Fucking. hell.
"I got 7 points! What the hell did you do Kevin?" I complained shoving his stupid weapon into his stupid arms with that stupid smirk of his. This dirty little stupid bastard.
"You just plain. old. suck" He confirmed throwing me his bow back. I caught it and was able to hit him in the head with it until an annoying little brat came running into the backyard. I let the bow fall to the ground and put on a smile on my face.
"Celia! I was wondering where you were" I laughed picking her up. She laughed as well and wanted to show me her guinea pig. I accepted but before turning to Kevin before flicking him off. He smiled just ever so slightly. Woah. He smiled and I liked it. I bit my lip and focused on Celia. Poor thing. She doesn't have one single clue that Kevin had already got his hand on the thing a couple days ago and her stuffed animal, sir charles was in his cage instead.
