Chapter 4: The first step

The two girls wake up to ready to start the day Birdy gives the girl some breakfast in bed, Birdy looks overseeing a girl waking up her friend and rambling on as they get ready and pack up their stuff.

Birdy follows along the girls until they found their lockers.

"Wonder what thoughs two are so worked up about"

"Oh who knows, SO you seem awfully chipper this morning?!"

"Yep! No more awkward small talk or getting to know you stuff today I get to let my sweetheart do the talking." Ruby said petting and hugging Crescent Rose.

"Well remember Ruby you're not the only one going through initiation, if you want to grow up you have to meet new people and learn to work together."

"Uhhgg You sound like Dad and Birdy, Okay first of all what does meeting new people help with fighting and secondly I don't need people to help me grow up I drink milk." Birdy snickers at Ruby's last comment.

"But what about when we form teams?"

"I-I don't know I'll just be on your team or something."

"Hmm, maybe you should try being on someone else's team..." Yang said playing with her hair.

"My dearest sister Yang, are you implying you do not wish to be on the same team as me!"

"No of course I do, I just thought, I don't know it might help you break out of your shell.

"What the- I don't need to break out of my shell that's absolutely-"

"Ridiculous!" Ruby at Jaune says at the same time.

The three watch as Jaune walks passed until Birdy speaks up. "Ruby there will come a time where you will need others to aid you, I might not always be there to help you."

"What do you mean?!"

"What I mean is that you shouldn't always rely on me, *Ahem* which is why I'm going to not help you during your initiation."

"WHAT WHY!?"

"What is it, Ruby?"

"Birdy just said she's not going to help me during the initiation!"

"I think that's reasonable"

"Ruby the initiation is like an exam if I were to help you it be cheating."

"N-no it wouldn't it, it like writing notes for the exam"

"Ruby that's still cheating"

Ruby was about to say something until a sound of metal and yelps were heard.

"I'm sorry!" The redhead said to Jaune.

"Will all first-year students report to Beacon Cliff for initiation, again all first-year students report to Beacon Cliff for initiation immediately"

Weiss walks passed Jaune not even batting an eye while Pyrrha pulls out her spear.

"Well, Jaune it was nice meeting you."

"Likewise"

The three walk up to Jaune Yang deciding to tease him a bit "Having some trouble there lady killer?"

"I don't understand, my Dad said all women look for is confidence, where did I go wrong." Ruby goes helps Jaune up.

"Snow Angel probably wasn't the best start..."

"Come on Jaune lets go, mind helping Birdy?"

Birdy sighs before giving Jaune a piggy-back ride and start walking to Beacon cliff.

~At Beacon Cilff~

"For years you have trained to become warriors and today your abilities will be evaluated in the emerald forest." Ozpin starts.

"Now I'm sure there are many of you that have rumours about the establishment of teams well, allow us to put an end to the confusion each of you will be given teammates today." The Professor explains.

"These teammates will be with you for the rest of the time here at Beacon so it is your best intrust to be paired with someone whom you can work well, that being said the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years."

"What!"

"See I told you."

"After you've partnered up make your way to the northern end of the forest you will meet our position along the way, do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path or you will die." Jaune gulps in fear hear Ozpin said die.

"You will be moderated and graded duration of the initiation but our instructors aren't to intervene, you will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff you will guard that item as well as your standing and grade you appropriately, are there any questions?"

"Yeah umm, sir-"

"Good now take your positions"

Everyone on the landing pads takes their positions reading to get flung in the air except Jaune. "Umm, sir I've got a Question so this landing strategy thing what is it? Are you like dropping us off or something?" As Jaune talks the others get flung into the air.

"No, you will be falling."

"oh.. I see, so like did you hand out parachutes for us?"

"No, you will be using your own landing strategy"

"UHH yeah"

Yang winks at Ruby before putting on her sunglasses and launching off.

"Good luck Ruby"

Ruby smirks at Birdy "I don't need luck" before getting launched.

"So what exactly is a landing strategyyyHEE," Jaune says getting sent into the air.

Ozpin calmly sips his coffee as he sees his future students speed through the air "Make sure they don't get too hurt." Birdy nods jumping off the cliff and glides through the sky.
