Vanishing Sorrows (Part 4)

Back at New Mobotropolis; Royal Army HQ...

The barricades that were made earlier by Nicole to keep the Royal Army soldiers from getting in had been broken. While a couple of squadron stayed outside to make sure no one was getting in, a couple more squadrons entered the building as they went through the hallways. Soon one of the squadrons came across a set of three doors, all of which led to the commander center of the HQ as the eight soldiers gathered at the doors.

"The officers are in that building, on three we'll breach the doors and kill them all" The squad leader whispered as his men nodded "Alright, on go... one... two... three!" The squad leader said to them before three soldiers kicked in the doors with the entire squad rushing in, their weapons aimed and ready to kill... however, their eyes widened in shock when all eight of them entered the room.

They saw that every Royal Army commanding officer that wasn't affected by Naugus' Eldritch Rite were all looking at the squad, a total of twenty of high-ranking officers ranging from Lieutenant Colonel to General. They weren't just looking at the squadron however... they all had laser handguns and semi-automatic rifles aimed at the squadron, as if they were expecting the squadron to arrive and burst in.

In the middle of the room was a dark auburn furred male Mobian squirrel with blue eyes, white hair/eyebrows/mustache, wore a blue long-sleeve uniform with gold epaulettes and red boots, of which he sat in a wheelchair as his arms were crossed. Suggesting by the various wrinkles on him, he was of old age. Standing next to him was a light and dark furred female Mobian chipmunk with blue eyes, dark auburn hair, and wore an orange and gold dress. She also looked to be of old age.

The squirrel in the wheelcheel then attempted to speak, but had some difficulty in doing so as no words were said for a few seconds, he even shook a bit when he tried to speak "...Fire" He mouthed finally, as every commanding officer complied with his order as they fired their laser weapons at the squad. The squad attempted to retaliate, but it was no use. The squadron was slaughtered before they could fire even a single shot, all eight of them now lying dead on the ground.

"We got them, sir" One of the commanding officers said to the squirrel, who slowly turned his head to face the CO, before slowly nodding "Dearest, I think I should handle the orders from now on, okay?" The chipmunk said to the squirrel, the latter of which slowly turning to face her, smiling slightly before nodding slowly as to approve of this. He knew with his difficulty in speaking that it'd be best to allow her to handle things from now on.

"Madam Alicia, if I may..." One of the commanding officers said to the chipmunk, who was referred to as Alicia when she turned to face the commanding officer "What is it?" She asked "I'm not sure how long we can hold them at bay, we may not be able to protect you and Maximillian when they decide to push a large force in" The commanding officer said "You have to try for the time being, the building is surrounded and there's no way out" Alicia said.

"We never said we'd stop trying, Madam" Another commanding officer said "Very good, let's prepare for the traitor's attack... dearest I suggest we get you out of sight" Alicia said to the squirrel in the wheelchair, previously referred to as Maximillian, who slowly shook his head "...No... I'll... stay here" Maximillian said strugglingly, before he faced forward towards the doors "Max, I'm not sure I can approve of this, but... I respect your decision" Alicia said as she also faced the doors "Close the doors and wait for their next assault, use whatever you can for cover" She said to the commanding officers, who all nodded before three of them proceeded to close the doors, while the rest used whatever they had for cover, even overturning some furniture to hide behind. Maximillian and Alicia only watched their loyal commanding officers prepared themselves.

Meanwhile on the outside of the building, the two Royal Army infantry squadrons that were keeping guard outside it's entrances were still looking around cautiously. One of their squad leaders then held up a communicator as to check in on the squads "Squad one, how's it looking in there?" He asked "So far so good, place almost seems empty however, we only found a few stragglers here and there" A soldier replied to him "Have you searched the command center yet?" The squad leader asked "Not yet, but squad two was sent to check it" The soldier replied.
