Sabel was in the kitchen making breakfast when she came out of the room wearing one of his USMC sweatshirts. Her hair was a mess from sleep and she looked mouth watering. Right now was not the time, he told himself. He gave her, her coffee and let her sit down. "What's wrong Tiger?" She asked him concerned. He looked like he was troubled with something.
"I need to tell you something Bunny and before you ask, no you're not going to like it." He told her. She sat up straighter, waiting for him to continue. "Last night when we were in the playroom and I pulled out, I saw a hole in the condom and it was leaking quite a bit." Sabel waited for her to say something, but it looked like she had stopped breathing from the shock of the news.
"Talk to me Bunny." He told her. It was as if it was a magic spell that got her to do more than just sit there. "Are you sure it broke? Not some trick of the light or something?" She asked in a panicked rush. He nodded, "I'm positive. I had to clean what came out of you." He went around the kitchen island and held her. She gripped his shirt, feeling terrified.
"I'm not ready to be a mom." She said, her voice cracking. He pulled back enough to see her face, "You will always have me, Bunny. You're not alone." She gave him a small nod. She knew he wasn't the kind to abandon another like that. If he did, she didn't know what she would do. She was against abortion, but after what she went through living in an orphanage, she would never put a kid in one.
He kissed her forehead, "It'll be okay. We have a little time before we know for sure so just stay calm. It's only a fifty fifty chance." She scoffed, her fear being pushed aside by anger. How could she have been so stupid and not get on birth control? Sure it doesn't always work but it would slim the chances. "Have you seen how many siblings you have? And if I'm not mistaken you said one of your dads is one of ten siblings? And you have over twenty or so cousins because each brother all had a good amount of kids, including the two who adopted? It's more like a ninety percent chance that I am."
God what was she going to do? She has plenty of money to take care of the child, but she doesn't know how to take care of a child. It's not like she has a mom to call up and ask about this sort of thing. She needed some fresh air. "I'm going for a walk." She said. She went to her room and quickly changed. Sabel didn't stop her as she left. He didn't know why, but even though he knew how she would react it still hurt. He shook his head, declaring he was insane. He didn't want kids. He had made that decision a long time ago.
"You say that now son, but one day you'll meet that special someone who will make you think differently."
His dad's words echoed in his head. They had been sitting in the kitchen as he surfed the web, looking for a place to settle. He had told his dad about the bar, but he said he might want to look into a place that he can settle and grow. His words that day were now slamming into him. He shook his head, going to the bathroom for a shower.
He braced his hands on the wall, letting the scalding water run down his back. He hated himself for not being more careful. He hated himself for making his Bunny feel the way she does. He did the right thing in telling her, but he should've done the right thing from the beginning and made sure she was on birth control to keep the chances super low.
He wouldn't blame her if she hated him, but no matter what he will do whatever it takes to make up for his carelessness. He nearly jumped when he felt slender arms wrap around his waist. He had been so lost in thought that he didn't hear her come in. How long had he been in here?
He felt her lips press against his back. "I'm sorry for running out." She whispered. He shook his head, "It's a reasonable reaction." He rested one of his hands over one of hers, "I wouldn't have blamed you if you didn't want to come back." They stood like that for a while. "I'm scared Sabel." She whispered. It was rare she ever used his name, but when she does he knows she means what she said. It was the same for him. It was an unwritten agreement between the two, that only they would ever understand. "I am too Nicole." He whispered back.
When the water became cold they got out and dried off, neither saying anything to the other, both lost in their thoughts of what a couple of weeks time would mean for them. Nicole couldn't see her as a mom with a yard and picket fence. She didn't see Sabel as the normal type of father either. How would they make it work? She loved this bar and called it home. Would they be able to stay here and raise their child?
It would be weird indeed, but they weren't normal so they maybe could make it work. Nicole pushed those thoughts to the side. She couldn't have those thoughts. She needed to focus on the fact she wasn't ready. She had trouble just showing Sabel affection outside of sex, how would she show a child? She didn't believe in it coming naturally because if so then her parents wouldn't have given her up.
Her eyes went Sabel. Maybe she could learn.
