As I opened the door to my dorm room I heard familiar voices. My roommate brought friends over again. Although, to my surprise there was only one. My roommate Ahn Amee and her friend Jin Jihee sat on the bed talking about something. When I walked in, the room fell silent.

They watched me as I put my stuff away and grab my sketchbook to go the park. Before I left, Amee asked me a question.

“Why was Kim Meosjin sitting with you in the cafeteria.” Her words entered one ear and out the other. I told her he just wanted to be my friend, but I didn't believe him.

“Okay. That's all I needed to know." After she spoke I came to the realization that my suspicions were correct. He doesn't really care about me.

“Have a good day.” I spoke softly as I left to go to the park. It was a sunny day. There were very few clouds in the sky. The grass was a vibrant and sharp green. The way the sun reflected off of the trees and benches made it feel as if you walked into a fairy tale.

I waltzed over to my normal tree to sit and watch people. To trace the way their hair flows down over their heads. To watch the movement of their limbs. But my fantasy was cut short when I spotted Kim Meosjin. He parked himself under my tree.

I thought this wasn't a problem, I would just sit on the opposite side of the tree today. I went to sit down but he heard me.

“I knew I'd find you here Jisu!” He sprang up with a large smile on his face.

“This is my meditation time. Could you please leave.” I tried asking him without showing the anger I was feeling. My teeth were gritted into a fake smile.

“Yeah I could leave, but I was thinking that maybe I could sit with you today.” He gave me a sweet smile.

“Fine, but you can't expect me to talk much.” He nodded in agreement and we sat down next to the tree. I began tracing figures on to the paper and he fell asleep.

After an hour or two of us lying there I tried waking him up.

“You need to get up, I'm leaving.” He didn't answer other than a low groan. I left him there and figured he'd be able to get up on his own and be responsible for himself.

When I got back to the dorm Amee and Jihee were gone. I put on my night clothes, a baggy t-shirt and long pants, and laid down in bed.

Suddenly I heard muffles and the first door to our dorm opened.

“Is she in there? Is Jisu in there?”

“Yeah she is.”

“Is she awake?”

“No, I don't think so.”

The whispers weren't very quiet, but I pretended to sleep out of curiosity.

“Meosjin is only trying to be with her to get back at Alice. He doesn't really like her and he knows this probably won't work for him, but whatever makes Alice unhappy is good enough for him.”

There it was. The reason he was really talking to me. I listened to them some more, hoping to get some sort of blackmail to use against him.

“What did Alice even do to him that made him want to hurt her?”

“She keeps cheating on him and lying about everything. She threatened him once too.”

“Yeesh. That doesn't sound very good. Why would he drag Jisu into this though?”

“He grew up with both Alice and Jisu.” That's right. He's grown up since then. That's why I didn't recognize him. I like to suppress those memories anyway.

“He knows why Jisu and Alice are the way they are so maybe this is the best way for him to get back at her.”

“I still don't think it's necessary to bring in Jisu. Why can't he use one of us?”

“Because he didn't choose us. Yeah, we're her ears on the inside, but it wouldn't help him to be with one of us. Alice wouldn't care as much as she does now.” This was when I knew I couldn't trust anyone. I knew before but now it's necessary to keep to myself.

“Anyway,” Amee continued, “you should go. We can finish talking about this tomorrow.”

“But I just got here, why do I have to go?”

“You have to go because if you stay you'll wake Jisu up and she'll figure out what's happening.”

“Fine. Maybe you're right. I'll talk to you later.”

Jihee got up and quietly left the room. After she was gone I heard shuffling in the room. Amee was doing something, but I couldn't quite figure out what it was.

After about fifteen minutes of the unrecognizable shuffling, I dozed off into a dream.
