I haven't been able to get all that's happened last night out of my head this whole school day. I've been so distracted. Obviously, there's much to talk about.

Too much, as a matter of fact. And it all needs to be answered straightaway, and that's exactly what I'm going to make happen today. The only problem is, there's a barrier, one with the wicked name of James, that keeps me from doing anything I need to be doing. Unfortunately for him, I'm going to forget about all of that, just for today. And besides, how would he find out about it?

Okay, maybe I'm getting ahead of myself here. If I do this at all, I need to keep on the down-low. Down-low, down-low, down-low...

"Hey, Scarlett!" someone calls from down the hall. To my surprise, it isn't Ryan.

I slam my locker closed as the voice startles me, clutching my books to my chest and catching my breath, watching Logan walk up to me. So much for keeping it on the down-low.

I slowly turn around, feeling a bit uncomfortable since he hasn't talked to me at school before, or should I say, ever; not until last night.

"Um, hey," I awkwardly greet, looking around at a few people who are now staring. They must think this is odd too, I wouldn't blame them.

"Look, sorry about last night," he begins, but I cut him off.

"No, no, it's all fine. I'm not really one for parties anyway." Then I realize that he's taking the blame for something that I'd caused. "What are you sorry for? If anyone should be sorry, it's me. Uh, sorry about Justin..."

He takes a moment to respond, confused about the "Justin" part.

"Oh! Yeah, Justin, him... You know, I was kinda shocked when I saw you two in that room together," he lightly chuckles. I would be, too, if I saw someone like him and someone like me in the same room together.

My eyes immediately go wide, trying to lead him in a different direction.

"Oh, no no no! He isn't—we aren't—he's...just, uh..." I'm cut off by Logan's laughter.

"I see, I see..." even though it's obvious he thinks otherwise.

"Yeah... Um, just, sorry that he crashed the party... He tends to cause a scene a lot of the time..." I rub my forearm and shamefully look at my feet.

"Nah, I think a lot of us thought it was a grand show, really." I manage to crack a small smile. "Well, he...it actually kind of scared me at first, but you know..." he chuckles.

"Yeah, he has a tendency to do that, too..." I say more so to myself than to him. There's a short silence consisting of us looking around, him probably searching for some friends of his. "Well, I should, uh, get going now..." I break the silence. He draws his focus back to me then nods.

"Yeah, of course. I'll see you around, although, too bad there's only a week left of school," he says as he walks away, but then he stops in his tracks and turns back around. "Say, what college you going to?"

"Me? Uh, oh, I'm going to, uh, Harvard." I still find it all unbelievable.

He raises his eyebrows, surprised, then lowers them. "I knew you were that kind of girl," he teases, then waves me goodbye and heads home.

Before I can ask him the same question, he's already gone out the school doors, leaving me clueless with where he's headed in life. I guess I can't be worrying about his right now, all of my focus needs to be on my own. But right now, I've got some business to take care of before I'm headed off to college.

I walk to my car, sitting my bag and books down in the passenger seat and drive out of the lot, avoiding the student traffic along the campus. As of right now, I'm not even worried about James's nosy eyes or any of the consequences of what I'm about to do.
