Beautifully Broken

Chapter 3

I gleam In happiness as he walks away. My head is in the clouds and I barley know the guy.

I return to my locker and pull out some cash for lunch. My friend, Fin, taps my shoulder. "I saw you with the new kid."

"Yea...and?" I try to say without smiling.

"Oh he was just talking to me before he saw you. We had math together." he says leaning against my locker.

"What were you talking about?" I ask trying not to sound to nosy.

"He just started talking about how he just moved here from District 2 with his dad or something." he said shrugging his shoulders.

"Oh. Rich kid..." I chuckle.

"Yea. Wanna walk to lunch with me Aub?" he asks. I nod. I knew Fin had the slightest crush on me but we are too much of best friends for that.

We eventually walk into the crowded lunchroom and wait in the lunch line. I slip my beanie off for a moment to fix my hair because it was a mess. "Seriously? In the lunchroom?" Fin asks.

"It's too crowded for anyone too see." I chuckle.

"Well.. almost.." he says

I just bypass what he's trying to say and grab some food. I don't get a lot because I'm not a huge eater.... among other reasons. Fin and I find a little table that sits about 4 in the corner by the vending machines.

"So what did that kid say to you anyway?" he asks.

"All he said was that he was sorry for running into me...." I said blushing,

"All he said?... or asked?.." he smirked.

"Well he asked for my number...." I say shyly.

"GET IT AUB GET IT." he says loudly

"SHHHHHHHH!!!" I say covering his mouth with my hand.

Only a few people saw him, but that was good enough. I saw Holden walk in and almost all eyes were on him. Even mine. He seemed lost at a place to sit, but I didn't feel like jumping up and seeming desperate. I turn my head away and eventually feel a tap on my shoulder.

"Can I sit here?" I hear a deep voice say.

I turn around.

Him.

"Yea sure..." I say smiling.

He plops in the seat next to me and fin.

"Are you guys alright?" he asks

"What? Yea. Everyone stares at us anyway." Fin chuckles.

"Why?" Holden says chuckling.

"Have you heard of Katniss, Peeta, or Finnick and Annie?" he asks.
