"hey, gray and i were wondering if you wanted to go live with us. the kids could come on too." ethan whispered. the kids were still asleep, so we had to be somewhat quiet.

"don't you think it's a little early for that? after the drama and everything? your fans hate me." i replied, looking into his hazel eyes. they never got old.

"trust me, they don't hate you. if anything, they still hate me. i get hate for what i did on every post. they care about you more than you know, em."

he gave me a subtle smile as i leaned back on the couch. i was still contemplating on whether i should do it or not.

"do you think the kids would handle all of the attention well? we don't put them in the public eye much." i said worriedly. perhaps i was making up excuses now.

"emerson, it's fine. i can tell you're nervous, but like i said, the fans love you." his hand grazed across my thigh. "and i'm here for you, no matter what happens."

he smiled as my cheeks flushed a light pink. he made me feel so special, but i bet he did the same thing with meredith.

damn it, i need to stop thinking like that.

"fine, ethan. i'll do it."

he quietly cheered as he texted grayson the good news.

"i'll have him come over at noon. we can all have lunch and then go live afterwards?" he clarified, cocking his eyebrow. i nodded, getting up from the couch to start on lunch, for it was already eleven.

"em, stay."

he dragged out the 'y', patting the spot next to him. i obliged, sitting back down where i was previously sitting.

ethan wrapped his arm around my shoulders, as i leaned my head into his neck. it fit perfectly, just as it always had. i've missed this, more than i knew i did.

"we never get any alone time with these kids." he chuckled, rubbing my shoulder. "we deserve this time every once in a while."

i nodded, closing my eyes and holding onto his sculpted bicep. i couldn't help but wonder- did he cuddle meredith like this?

i knew it was wrong of me to have doubts, but i couldn't help it.

"mommy! daddy!" i heard from the hallway, startling me.

"yes, mayson?" ethan asked, still holding onto me closely.

"i'm awake." mayson smiled, standing in his race car pajamas. he quickly galloped over to us, jumping in between our two bodies.

ethan and i both laughed as he got comfortable.

"uncle grayson is coming over today, buddy." i said, knowing that he would be super excited. he loved his uncle.

"really?" he yelled excitedly. i nodded as ethan quietly shushed him, for hadlee was still sleeping.

mayson engulfed me into a hug with a smile.

"what was that for, bud?" i laughed, holding onto his tiny back.

"i'm happy that you're happy, mommy." he whispered into my ear, causing me to smile. this was the most caring boy i had ever met.

"and i'm happy that you're happy, may." i replied, lifting him up onto my lap. "what sounds good for lunch?"

mayson sat deep in thought, his pointer finger scratching his head.

"dino nuggets!" he said excitedly, grabbing onto my neck. "can you pleaseee make dino nuggets?"

i nodded in compliance, gently setting him down next to ethan and walking into the kitchen.

"ethan, what about for us?" i yelled from the kitchen, grabbing the dino nuggets from the freezer.

i felt large hands wrap around my waist, plump pink lips planting a small kiss on my cheek.

"pineapple pizza?" he asked, smirking. i turned to look at him, rolling my eyes.

"i should've just expected that."

he shrugged his shoulders, a laugh escaping from his lips.

"do you need any help?" ethan asked, opening one of the cabinets and grabbing a pizza pan.

"yeah, could you put eight of these nuggets in the oven? three hundred fifty degrees for ten minutes." i asked, getting some pizza dough, tomato sauce, cheese, and pineapple from the refrigerator.

"of course, mon amour."

that's a new one.

i spread the pizza dough out into a large circle and placed it onto the pizza pan. the outer folds of the dough i folded to form what would be the golden crust. then, taking a spoon, i dipped it into the sauce jar and spread it over the crust, forming mountainous piles of cheese and pineapple on top. i placed it in the oven, my mouth watering as i waited to devour my masterpiece.

i snuck a glance over at ethan to see that he was still trying to open the bag of dino nuggets. i rolled my eyes and walked out of the kitchen, chuckling to myself.

"are they almost ready, mommy?" mayson asked eagerly. i smiled at his excitement as i sat down on the couch.

"how about you go help your dad." i suggested, curious to see how this would turn out.

mayson jumped up and scrambled to the kitchen.

"daddy!" he yelled. "how do you not have this open?"

"i-i" ethan stuttered.

i could hear mayson grab the bag and crisply open it.

"there you go, daddy. easy."

mayson skipped back into the living room, a huge smile stretched across his face. he shook his head in disappointment.

"unbelievable, mommy. how could you marry him?"

sometimes i wonder...
