Chapter 5: I'm Not Gay
It's been a week since the whole confrontation at the football field. I'm at home in a crop top and some baggy Nike sweats. I open my Geometry textbook and get started on some homework. Geometry is easy, but I still hate all kinds of math. As I'm in the middle of a problem, Grayson casually strolls into my room, as if it was his. Doesn't anyone in this house knock?
"I guess you don't know how to knock?" I say as I continue trying to figure out the math problem. He lays on my bed and puts his arms behind his head.
"Not really my thing." He responds. Clearly. I close my book and turn towards him. "Is there something you wanted?"
"Jackson's coming over to hang out in the pool, wanna join?" I'm surprised that Grayson is even inviting me. I mean, yeah sure we've been hanging out all week but it wasn't willingly. I remember Michael mentioning a pool the first day we got here and I've been wanting to check it out. My excitement comes to a complete halt when I realized Jackson will be there. It's been a week since I've talked to him. I cringe at the memory of our last encounter.
"Um, are you alright?" I look up and Grayson is now sitting up and giving me a weird look. I forgot he was there.
"Oh uh yeah" I answer, straightening my back. "I'll be down in a second." I'm not gonna let Mr. Pretty Boy ruin my experience. I'm determined to try and enjoy myself, even with Jackson being there.
"Jackson lives right next door, so he'll be over in about ten," He nods towards the house outside my window. "You can actually see his bedroom from here." I don't let him know that I already knew this bit of information. I don't want to relive that humiliation again by explaining it to him. I look over and I can see a girl in Jacksons room sitting on his bed. I scrunch my brows confused. Why is there a girl in his room? Honestly, I shouldn't be surprised. He's the definition of a player. Then Jackson walks in wearing just swim trunks and the girl gets up to greet him. He says something to her and she puts her hand on his chest as she responds. All of a sudden, he plants a kiss on her lips and I immediately look away and shudder slightly. Grayson looks at the window and his eyes widen. He goes over to my curtain and quickly closes them. "Yeah that might happen a lot."
"Great, something to look forward to," I say rolling my eyes. "Okay, I said I'll come. Now can you please leave? I have homework to do." He gets up and ruffles my hair and I jump away from him. "Why does everyone keep doing that to me?" I ask. He laughs and finally leaves my room.
