Chapter 9: Golden Boy

"Holy shit." I breathe out looking at the damage on Michaels car.

"Don't say it, I already know. It's bad," He groans out. I turn to him slowly, my eyes wide.

"He's going to kill you. What color do you want your casket? Brown or black? " I choke out laughing. Theo glares at me.

"Yo, this isn't funny. I'm too young to die," He sits on the ground and puts his head in his hands.

"You have to admit it kinda is. You've been giving Michael trouble ever since I met you, but this..." I shake my head.

"I know, I know. I really screwed up this time," He looks over at the car and sighs. "You gotta help me," He pleads. I stare down at him confused.

"Me? What am I supposed to do?"

"I don't know uh...can't you just call somebody or something? Anything?" I shake my head no.

"Oh no, don't bring me into this. I don't think it's going to be that easy to fix anyway. How did this even happen?" Theo gives me a guilty smile.

"I wanted to surprise Jade so I kinda decided to go take her out for a ride earlier. On my way home I hit a pole," He gives a nervous laugh.

"Why would you take Michael's car, you can't even drive?"

"I actually do know how to drive, I just don't have my license because the people at the DMV can't take a joke," He rolls his eyes, probably at the memory. When I give him a questioning look, he explains. "I got banned for pulling a minor prank. I took the car out for a few laps to scare them a bit but when I came back they thought I stole it. I was obviously gonna give it back, I didn't want that piece of shit."

"Yeah no, you're on your own man. For all the hell you put Michael through, this kinda seems like you deserve it," I hate to sound rude, but maybe this will teach him some sort of lesson. I wait for Theo to argue but he doesn't. Instead, he rests his head back in his hands.

"I don't mean to, I just like to joke around. I guess a bit too much," He stands up and looks at the time on his phone, a frown on his face. "You're right, I'm an ass. Dad's gonna be here soon, I'm just gonna go wait it out in my room." He shuffles out the garage leaving me alone again. I can't help but feel bad for him. He looks extremely distraught about this. He's done a lot of bad things, but this may be the last straw for Michael and Theo knows it. I walk through the door and sit on the couch in the living room to watch TV. After about twenty minutes, I hear a loud shout come from the garage.

"What the hell!" Michael's voice echoes throughout the quiet house. Theo walks down the stairs cringing. Michael comes storming into the living room, his eyes blazing. "What happened to my car?!" I look at Theo who looks like he's about to be sick. I don't know what it is, but something inside me, makes me want to help. He's been in trouble so many times. He deserves a break. I know I said earlier that it would be a good lesson, but by the looks of it, I think he already knows he screwed up. Michael's eyes turn to Theo's accusingly and he opens his mouth to yell.

"It was me," I blurt out before Michael can get a chance. His eyes widen in shock and he turns to me stunned. I stand up from the couch and walk towards him, trying my best to stay calm.

"What? Why would you–" Michael seethes and I cut him off and quickly make up an explanation from the top of my head.

"I needed to get something from the store and I crashed into another car when I was trying to park. I'm so sorry," He looks at me in confusion. Theo is giving me the same exact look. Sebastian comes in, peering around to see what all the commotion is about. I didn't even realize that Sebastian was home this whole time.
