I missed class completely since Ethan didn't leave the library until the next bell. "We need to talk to mom." I said as Andrew and I hurried through the crowded halls.
"You're right." He was texting away on his phone. "We just need to get through the game tonight."
"Drew? Did you not read the note properly? Someone is coming for you, and my money is on it being Matt."
"Ah, my favorite siblings." James said from behind us, throwing his arms over our shoulders. "Tense? What's up?" He asked as we slowed to a stop in front of Andrew's locker.
"Just pre-game nerves man. Excited." Andrew said, the fear completely melting from his face as he acted like nothing was wrong. Suddenly, from the end of the hallway, deep yelling began. The rest of the lacrosse team, led by Luke, marched down the hallway. Chanting, the sea of students seemed to part to let them through. Luke stopped in front of us.
"You guys ready?" He asked James and Drew, they nodded, joined in to the chanting, and left me staring after them. Kristy approached me.
"They always do that. Almost every game day." She said. "You ready for tonight?" I nodded, still a little shaken up.
"Yeah! What do you think are the chances of the boys winning?" I asked as we walked to my locker.
"Oh, they'll kill it. They are predicted to win state this year. Coach Klein is the best, and the guys are looking really good." She stared down the hallway after them. "In more ways than one."
"A!" I heard Misty before I saw her. She, Marissa, and Bridgette strolled towards us. I felt as if they should move in slow-mo while a Rihanna song played in the background. They all had their duffle bags slung over their shoulders as they stopped in front of me in perfect harmony. "Come on, warm ups start in two minutes." She said, she gave Kristy an awkward half smile and crossed her arms, waiting for me. I yanked my duffle out of my locker and hugged Kristy.
"Take some good photos!" I said as Misty and Marissa linked arms with me and pulled me away.
"So tell me." Misty started as we headed toward the field. "Was that Liam Forbes' bike I saw you getting on at lunch today? But Luke's Jeep I saw you getting out of before fifth period?" She flashed me a smile. "Dirty girl, trying to bag both the hottest guys in school?" I laughed.
"Not anymore." I replied. Misty cocked her eyebrow. "I wish I had enough time to tell you the whole story, but Liam kinda flipped out on me today. I think that's over. And my brother is super protective of his friends, Luke and I don't stand a chance." At the mention of my brother Marissa and Bridgette seemed interested.
"Andrew is going to kill it today." Bridgette said. "He's so good! It's like your family is naturally talented."
"There's a party after the game. You're obvi coming right?" Marissa asked.
"Uh, the party Michael is throwing?" I asked, vaguely remembering over hearing it in conversation.
"Yeah, even Misty is coming, you have to." Marissa replied. I turned to look at Misty.
"I thought you hated parties?"
"Oh no hun, I love a good rager, just not the night before tryouts." She said, taking the time to individually frown at Marissa, Bridgette, and I in turn. I laughed.
"Yeah, ya know I could use a mental break." I said, agreeing to go. Marissa clapped.
"Perfect!" She said. We headed into the locker rooms and changed into our warm ups. I pulled hot pink Nike spandex on, a white tank top, and yanked my hair up into a pony.
