The door burst open and I saw the one person I was thankful for seeing, Allison. She gave me a quick smile and hurried to unravel me from the chains. I stood up and sighed in relief.
"C'mon lets ditch this popsicle stand." I said and ran out the door. I felt something hit my foot as I was running so I stopped in my tracks, dead bodies everywhere. Some remains were even piled on top of each other, some chopped up into tiny bits and spread out across the floor. Everything was covered in a crimson wet glow. I tried tiptoeing over the bodies and blood spills, careful not to track any outside. We all know that stuff isn't coming out of the carpet, or my shoes.
I noticed Allison was a good distance behind me, so I checked to see if she was alright. She was limping and I think I saw, blood dripping from her. Concerned, I went back for her. I tried helping her walk by supporting some of her weight while we tried finding our car.
Allison immediately healed, pushed me away, and looked back. Our ears were directed to a loud siren, like a storm was coming. But she assured me it wasnt a storm, far from it.
"They're coming." She gasped and took my hand, forcing me to follow her lead.
"What? Who's coming?" I was out of breath, but had to keep running.
"The angels. They're here to kill your baby. They're early. Here." She pushed me into a secrete place. "Hide here. You'll be safe." She went back outside and fought to keep them from coming inside. She wasn't alone of course. Allison had many other secret agent friends by her side helping her.
A young man appeared before my eyes and sat with me. "Um. Hello?" I asked. "Don't worry, I'm here to protect you. No ones going to touch your baby. I Promise. We're going to deliver a healthy half-demon baby." I just nodded and hoped for the best. "My name's Bruce. Bruce Wayne." He reached out for my hand. "Christine. Nice to meet you I guess." I shook his hand. Even though I had just met him, he seemed really nice, and I felt like I could trust this guy with my baby. Perhaps trust him with even my life.
We just sat there for a while and talked during all the commotion that was going on outside our hiding place. I began to trust him more and more. I'm actually surprised we haven't seen many mutants lately. I think they're slowly dying off due to the lack of food. Since demon children aren't exactly common, it's an unknown fact that they grow at an extremely faster rate than regular children. What's 9 months becomes about 4 weeks, depending on the baby of course. The baby comes when it wants. It seems like it's only a matter of time before they all die off and the baby is born.
Things were starting to quiet down outside so me and Bruce assumed the war was about over.
And then I felt the worst pain any human could ever feel. The babies claw-like feet were kicking and scratching at me. The pain I felt was unbearable and the baby was literally pulling apart my insides to get out. I looked over to Bruce who wasn't helping me at all, his eyes flickered into complete darkness. Angel-like black wings sprouted out from his vertebrae. He clawed from between my legs and grasped the baby tightly. "Yoink." He yelled and started running for the exit.
He opened the door to see Allison, standing in front of him, her foot between his legs and a gun to his head. "Going somewhere?" She smiled slyly as he knelt to the ground with his head hanging low. I quickly grabbed the baby and grabbed the nearest blanket I could find and swaddled him in it. I carried my newly-born baby safely to our car that Allison had found and conveniently parked out front.
Bruce flickered his eyes once more, "Didn't know you were one for cheap-shots Allison." Bruce grabbed her by the head and tightly held his grasp to her neck. She started spray-firing hoping to hit Bruce somewhere. Her bullet hit something and ricocheted back to her, hitting Bruce in his spinal cord, paralyzing his half-human body. She threw him against the wall and grabbed her magically-charmed cleaver and hacked at his skull, sending high voltages, along with holy water, throughout his being.
Bruce collapsed and black smoke shot out from his eyes and disappeared into nothingness. Allison quickly rushed back to her car to see me rocking the baby back and forth singing lullabys to him. She looked at us and sighed contently. "His name's Aidan." I looked back at her and smiled.
Allison started the car and drove away into the night. "Where to now Christine?"
"Wherever he takes us."
