Back on the ship the edge of a knife digs at the screws holding the door of the storage room on the hinges. After some effort the woman finally wriggles out the final screw, which clatters against the wood below. With a grunt Odette kicks the door open, glancing around as it falls with a loud thud. She tosses the knife aside with a huff, placing her hands on her hips proudly.
"See, no problem." Odette assured Marina, who had been doubting her method.
Marina stands beside the brunette before glancing at the final figure off to the side.
"Oh come on you look great." Marina encourages.
Odette watches in sympathy as Spike whines pitifully, emerging with a pink bow on his head. Without another word Marina dashes up onto the deck. Once she was gone Odette bent down to rid the dog of its decorations.
"I know, it's stupid but she is hard to deny." Odette apologizes to the large mastiff.
Once the bow is discarded Spike happily licks her face and follows the girl onto the upper deck. As she arrived Odette smiled as Marina shakes her hair free of her tie and surveys all the action taking place. She was starting to let up. On the deck Cale was shouting orders to the crew as they make adjustments. Marina ducks as Rat swings on the ropes above her head. Vlad, a bulker and European looking man, spins his plank around causing Odette to duck quickly. His eyes widen in surprise as he noticed her crouched form.
"Oh, pardon me my lady." Rat apologizes politely.
Marina sighed as she straightened herself up and stared ahead of them. Her face paled as she stares up at the daunting, jagged, rocky cliffs before them. The sky above it was a dreary grey and the opening to it was barely enough room of the ship to fit through.
"The Dragon's Teeth?" Odette whispered worriedly.
Marian looked at her in surprise before glancing back at the cavern warily. They heard a noise from above and watched as Rat leapt of the main sail and hung in front of them.
"Indeed Senoritas. Only the most FOOLISH OF CAPTAINS would dare venture into the teeth." Rat told them, shouting out at his captain bitterly as he did.
"Rat rig the port sail!" Sinbad scolded from across the ship.
The man shrugged at the women sheepishly.
"Excuse me senorita." Rat told Marina bashfully, obviously smitten by the woman, and whipped out of sight.
Odette chuckled at the strange man. He was starting to grow on her. Marina pursed her lips thoughtfully and made her way to the back of the ship were Sinbad was holding the wheel. Odette followed and took the lead. Between the two of them Marina had noticed that Sinbad reacted my better to the princess's presence. Amara stared ahead warily as she approached the man.
"Are you sure..." Odette starts to say.
"Yes we've done this kind of thing before.." Sinbad interrupts.
"But..." Odette tries to continue.
"No, there is no other way.." Sinbad interrupts again.
"But you...." Odette once again tries to continue.
"And yes, you have my permission to stand there quietly and get a free lesson in sailing." Sinbad says.
Odette stared at Sinbad incredulously as he held his own conversation over top of hers.
Was she really that predictable?
"I don't need lessons in sailing as you should know. You don't..." Odette starts saying.
"Besides......a ship is no place for a woman." Sinbad told Odette smugly, ending the conversation.
Odette growled and lunged for him but Marina grabbed her arm before she could.
"You've never had a problem with me being here before." Odette countered heatedly.
Sinbad froze and hardened his features at her statement. In the past he had loved having her with him, but now things were different. He couldn't afford to fall back into old habits. Ignoring the emotions welling up in him Sinbad continued his duties.
"Jin, easy on the main." Sinbad called in warning to his crew member, who shouted back in response.
Odette looked away from him and took a breath and stabled her emotions, trying to refrain from strangling him right there and then. They would have time to sort all of this out once they got past this death trap.
