"Ok let's play a game. If you win, ill give you the book of peace." Eris began lightly.
Eris turned, motioning for the room to fade away and revealing a rock platform leading to the floating book at the end.
"There it is noble hero." Eris taunted.
Sinbad began walking towards it but the rock staring to give under him caused him to backtrack.
"Not so fast, my game has rules Sinbad." Eris reminded, starling him as she grasped his shoulder from behind.
"I'll ask you a question, one simple question." Eris began, tapping Sinbad's nose tauntingly.
"If you answer truthfully, the book is yours." Eris told him.
Sinbad rose a skeptic brow.
"Give me your word." Sinbad insisted.
"You still don't trust me." Eris pouted.
"Uh....no." Sinbad deadpanned.
"Isn't it a pity we live in such skeptical times." Eris rolled her eyes.
"Yes, because usually one would trust the goddess of discord." Odette pointed out sarcastically.
Eris glared at Odette before sighing.
"Oh alright, you have my word....as a goddess." Eris hummed, boredly marking an 'X' over her heart.
"Fair enough?" Eris asked Sinbad.
Sinbad nodded. Realizing he was about to go up against the goddess of chaos Odette quickly grasped his arm, looking up at him in worry.
"Sinbad you need to know..." Sinbad shushed her and smiled in comforting manor before stepping forward.
"Ask your question." Sinbad told Eris.
"Excellent. Now we all know what happens when you get the book of peace. You return it to Syracuse and...save Proteus." Eris mocked in annoyance.
"But if you don't get the book, you have a choice to make. Either sail to paradise with the woman of your dreams or......return to Syracuse to die."
Odette stiffened as she watched Sinbad's back. They had come so far for this Odette almost forgot about what would happen if they didn't get the book.
"You're either a thief or a hero. So, here's my question Sinbad. If you don't get the book, will you go back to die?" Eris queried, fading into the swirling sand around them once more.
Sinbad stood there for a moment, thinking hard and honestly. He turned slightly to catch a glimpse of Odette behind him. If he ran, she would never forgive him. He knew she would be forced to take over and be stuck on Syracuse hating him. However, if he went back and died, she could be happy again. Have her brother, fall in love, maybe even escape to explore the world like she wanted. She didn't want him anyway so it was either die knowing the woman he loved was happy or flee knowing she hated him forever. In that perspective the choice was easy.
"I will go back." Sinbad spoke aloud.
Odette grinned, knowing he was more noble than he cared to admit. With a tentative step he went forward, and nothing happened. At this Sinbad grinned and quickly walked towards the book, reaching out just as it was within his grasp. However, the sound of crumbling caused him to freeze and he looked down in alarm.
"You're lying." Eris hummed and laughed as the two fell with the crumbling walkway. In a last-ditch effort Sinbad reached for the book but it slipped from his fingers.
