Part 7- Work Week.

At The Vicker Group...

Monday is here and Chris had just arrived at The Company's building. He was greeted by the company's security guards who stood firmly and waved formally to acknowledge his presence. Stepping out of his sleek black Audi, he walked over to the building's main entrance. As he stepped into the building, it seemed as if someone paused the world as everyone's movements stood still.
Chris who was never one to get nervous in front of anyone noticed their looks of fear and that in turn gave him chills.

Chris's POV

I noticed how they stared at me which made me feel uncomfortable, but if there's anything that being my father's PA has taught me, it's being able to hide your true feelings behind a stern face. I know that they must be feeling nervous seeing me for the first time as their Boss and not just the PA to the Boss. I cleared my throat to bring them out of their reverie and straightened my tie. Out of embarrassment, they all shook their heads and and blinked back to reality.

"Good morning sir..."
"Good morning to you all.. How's the morning going? "
"Very well sir... " one of them answered.
"That's good to hear.. I just wanted to thank you all for all the efforts you've been putting into making this company what it is today. I hope I can count on your relentless cooperation. " I said trying to be as formal and friendly as I can.
"Yes sir!..of course you can, we look forward to working with the handsomest hottest boss ever!" Ashley, the company's receptionist squeaked, I'm sure she'd didn't mean to say it out that loud as she covered her mouth with her hand when she realized what she said and everyone turned to look at her while she kept her head down out of embarrassment.

"Thank you Ashley " I say smiling to her. Ashley McCoy was my receptionist and the only person who was on a first name basis with me. She always had a clumsy attitude which led to my father shouting at her each time she didn't do something right. Sometimes I asked him why he wouldn't fire her and he said because even though she was clumsy and forgetful, she was loyal and sweet and I also liked that about her. She was kind of like my baby sister at work.

"Mr Vicker, Good morning."
"Please Victor, call me Chris." I said as Victor came forward and walked me to my new office. "We already sent out notifications to inform people about the vacancy for a PA, the interviews should be conducted in two weeks time. I have pulled together the list of investors that your father was partnering with, Some of them, you already know. You have a meeting with Polar Shipping Express at 9:00am, scheduled to end at 11:00. By 1:00 pm, Mr Rodriguez is going to come over to conclude the negotiation between our companies over the construction of our new refinery. Afterwards, you'd be meeting with our HR department to discuss which staffs you'd like to retain or layoff. There's not much to do after that except some paperwork."

"Woah..That's a lot.. Thanks for the briefing though. Could you please send Ashley in when you leave?" I say after settling down into my new office space. It feels weird sitting on this chair right now, like the weight of the world is upon my shoulders.
"Of course . I've been wanting to ask sir, do you have any particular attributes we should look out for when selecting the people to be interviewed? "
"Hmm... I don't know Victor, what do you suggest?"
"Well I think he or she has to be efficient and punctual."
"That's true, and very important because I don't think I can handle late comings."
"and have a very good memory.. Not like.. "
"Ashley? " I say before he gets the chance to complete his statement.
"Yeah.. That girl can't even remember her own name to save her life" Victor scoffed.
"Oh come on Victor, she's not that bad.. Besides, I'd like to think that my PA must be most importantly, very loyal because you know In our business world, that's very rare to find. "
"I agree with you on that one. Well, we'd be on the lookout. If that's all then.. Please excuse me. " he says giving a slight nod before his exit.
