Louis is busy getting ready for his whatever with Harry when Zayn calls his name from the living room.
"What do you need?" Louis asks, running his fingers through his hair to tame it.
Zayn is focusing on the television remote while the television itself had no service flashing across the screen. "Can you fix the tv?"
"Of course I can't. Call the cable company and have them fix it," Louis shrugged, already starting to walk back to his room.
"Well, aren't you helpful!" Zayn calls after him. Louis just laughs in response.
Twenty minutes later Louis is fully dressed and ready to leave for the restaurant Louis and Harry had decided on - Maria's Mexican Restaurant - and Zayn is still confused as to why the television has suddenly stopped working. Harry is meeting him there, so Louis just drives straight to Maria's and gets a table for them.
Harry said he was going to arrive around 6:30 - it's 6:15 now.
After a few minutes of waiting, chips and salsa arrive at his table and the waitress looks a bit worried. "Would you like to order something to drink?"
"Um, sure. I'll have a diet and he'll have iced tea, please," Louis says. As an after thought, he adds, "Also, can we have some queso dip?" She nods and leaves the table, leaving Louis alone once again. Harry had ordered an iced tea the first time they went out so Louis just assumed.
By the time their drinks and queso dip arrives it's already 6:25. Louis begins to grow antsy and his leg starts to bounce up and down. But, he doesn't doubt Harry. It's not 6:30 just yet. He still has another five minutes.
The waitress stops by a few times and Louis has to stop going through twitter each time so he doesn't seem rude, but with each visit he doesn't even try to hide his annoyance at her unnecessary worried glances. She even asks if anyone else is even coming, and he replies with a stern yes and tells her they will order when he arrives.
At 6:50 his stomach growls and he really wants to order, but that'd be rude. Then again, Harry couldn't even bother to show up on time. He even considers texting him just to make sure he's okay, but decides against it. Louis prefers to not come off as clingy and obsessive.
Around 7:00 Louis finishes his first drink and asks for a refill. Harry's tea is completely watered down and it close to spilling over the edge because of all the ice that has melted.
It isn't until he checks his phone and the time reads 7:45 that he gets angry. He's been waiting for Harry for an hour and a half and his stomach is begging for some food. And Harry hadn't even called to say he couldn't make it or that he didn't want to see Louis again.
The waitress comes by one last time and Louis tells him he's not going to order and is just going to leave. She tells him the drinks are on her—probably out of pity. Louis' fists are clenched as he closes his car door and rests his head on the steering wheel, trying to focus on the pain in his stomach rather than the pain in his chest. When he's calmed down, but still shaking with anger and sadness, he pulls out his phone and dials Harry's number.
Harry picks up on the fifth ring. "Hello?"
"You're such an asshole," Louis says through gritted teeth.
"Wha- Louis, I-"
"No, you listen to me, Harry. I made my best friend search through at least twenty different Harry's to find the one I was looking for—which was you, in case you didn't know—just because I thought you were cute and maybe you were different and liked me for me. But apparently I was wrong, because you didn't even have the decency to show up. What, did you just magically forget? Christ, Harry, you were so damn excited on the phone," Louis sighs, taking a second to breathe.
"Please, I just-" Harry tries, but Louis is right there.
"I'm not finished. Did I do something to upset you? Am I not who you thought I would be? Everyone I've ever cared about has left, and you don't get to prance into my life and be all cute and then just leave. That's not how things work, Harry, and I'm sorry if I did anything to make you think that that's okay. Now you can explain why you're being a dick." Louis finishes, closing his eyes to compose himself as he awaits Harry's answer.
Louis hears sniffling on the other line and then a quiet, soft reply. "Louis, my mom is in the hospital."
