Raven flew as fast as she could away from her and her sister's apartment building. She could hear Soda yelling for her in the distance, but she ignored it. She had hurt her sister, and she despised herself for it. She flew farther and farther until she couldn't recognize where she was. She landed in the middle of a small, circular field surrounded by a thick woods. Raven looked down at her hands, one still with Soda's dried blood on it. As she stared her self hate and rage grew more and more. She curled her hands into fists and glared daggers at no one in particular. Her rage grew so much that it broke her. Red flames flew from her hands and her scythe appeared in her hand. She knew she looked menacing. She stood there, pissed at the world, holding a scythe in her still flaming hands. If anyone had been hiking in these woods, they would have regretted it for sure, because Raven..no...Nova....was ready to kill.
(Soda's POV) yeah bet you didn't see that comin'
"RAVEN!!" Soda yelled as she searched the streets for her sister. If only I could fly too, that would make life so much easier right now, she thought. Soda looked high and low for her sister but to no avail. She continued down the street, looking left and right for any sign of Raven, until she bumped into someone.
"Ow!" Soda exclaimed, startled by the sudden physical contact. She looked up at whom she had run into. He was a tall man, a good half-foot taller than her. He had short, brown hair and a bit of brown scruff along his jawline and upper lip. He was thin, yet muscular and had deep brown eyes.
"Oh, no! It was my fault. I should watch where I'm going," he said in a deep, rugged voice. "I'm Liam, by the way."
Liam? That sounds familiar, but where have I heard it? OH-
"OH MY GOD! You're the guy that Raven was with today!!" Soda suddenly recalled. She remembered going hacking into Raven's phone to see who see was talking to, since Raven wouldn't tell her(Of course). Liam looked startled for a second, from her sudden outburst, but quickly regained his calm attitude.
"Oh, you must be her sister. She talked about you alot while we were out," he stated.
"She's missing," she admitted. The look of horror that spread across his face made Soda have no doubts that he truly cared for Raven as much as she did, and that's alot.
"What! Is she okay!? When did she go missing!? I gotta go look for her!" he panicked but before he could walk away to look, Soda grabbed his sleeve. She gave him a hopeless look.
"I've been searching for her since she left, which was about 3 hours ago. There's no trace of her," she said. To this he put on a more determined look.
"That's because you don't know where to look," Liam stated confidently. He walked off and Soda trailed right behind him. He took lefts and rights and then more lefts and more rights until, finally, they arrived at the park. He looked up towards the trees like he knew exactly where Raven was, but didn't stop walking. He took long strides that Soda struggled to keep up with, to the center of the park. He looked up into the tallest tree and smiled to himself. Soda was confused until she looked up as well. Raven sat on one of the branches, slouched back. She flicked her wings and tail every few seconds and inspected her claws.
"Raven!" They called in sync. She didn't even look down at them or acknowledge there presence at all. They looked at each other, confused, after they realized she wasn't going to acknowledge them.
"Raven?" They called again with less confidence.
"That's not my name," she replied softly. Soda was horrified. Liam went to say something else but Soda tugged at his arm, and unconsciously shook her head. Liam gave her a confused look and turned back to the winged-girl perched in the tree.
"What do you mean?" he asked her, ignoring Soda's warning. She smirked slightly while still looking at her claws.
"I meant exactly what I said. That's not my name," she said. She seemed like she was daring him to ask her what it was, and Liam did not seem like the type of guy to back down from that sort of challenge. Soda needed to get him away. She tugged harder at his sleeve and gave him a look pleading him not to continue with the dangerous game he was unknowingly playing, but he ignored her helpless pleads and continued anyway.
"Then what is your name?"
The smile on the girl's face grew as she finally turned to look at them. Her eyes looked crazed and Liam knew that he shouldn't have done that.
"My name...is Nova," she said menacingly before she shot forward at them with her scythe above her head ready to strike. Soda, being quick on her feet, managed to get herself and Liam out of the way as the scythe came crashing down, embedding itself a few feet into the hard, cement sidewalk. She pulled it easily out of the ground as she gained a crazed expression and fire flew from her hands. They people that had been in the park were basically running over top of each other to get out of harm's way. Liam looked horrified and confused all at the same time as he struggled to get further away from the girl he loved. Soda did the one thing she could think of to get to safety, as much as she hated to do it. She leaped forward as slashed at Nova. She hit her directly on the left side of her face, almost taking her eye with it. Nova screamed in pain and grabbed her face, dropping the scythe that faded into nothing before it hit the ground. Soda and Liam ran as fast as their feet could carry them and leaving the girl they both loved dearly for dead.
