3 - Erase Earn's memory

Om and Mick was going to throw a party. They had finally admitted that they were a couple and wanted to announce their commitment to the lot, the loud and outrageously crazy lot.

"Noh, did you order all the stuff we need for the party?' asked Om, as he rummaged his bag for something. "Yeah, yeah, yeah,", sighed Noh. He wasn't in his element of late. Om noticed but didn't want to get into Noh's space without his invitation. "Phun's coming right?", Om questioned. "Yes, I already told him", Noh replied. There was a listlessness in Noh's body language that was being noticed by the music club members and his close buddies but nobody wanted to pry. Phun noticed it too. 

Noh was fighting a battle in his mind. 'I thought it was only Phun, but Earn? How did Earn trick himself into my private space? I never had a thing for him, in all these years. What's wrong with me? Why was my heart racing when Earn..'. His train of thought was broken as Ohm called out to say bye and shut the door behind him. He shook his head as if to shake off those thoughts that had been eating him. 

Phun was on his way to meet Noh when he bumped into Ohm who was rushing off to meet Mick. "Ohm, is Noh in there?"

"Yeah he is.. probably waiting for you", 

"Thanks Ohm", with that Phun rushed into the music club room.

He found Noh sitting on the floor and didn't even bother to look at the door when Phun stepped in. Noh was not his usual self and Phun was cautious around him but he knew it had to do something with Earn. Noh looked up at Phun's solemn face. Phun broke into a soft smile and said, "Let's go, Noh".  

Together as they prodded towards the school gate, Phun put an assuring arm around Noh's shoulder. Noh didn't flinch like he normally would. Noh didn't notice. Phun was a little startled but continued to walk in silence with a brooding Noh. He knew, from their first stolen kiss scenario - it confirmed Noh's feelings for him too. Noh can deny all he wants on the outside, but Phun knew he had Noh's heart before anyone else. 

At the entrance of Noh's house, Phun broke the silence "I don't now what's eating you lately Noh, but whenver you are ready to share, let me know. Just know that I am here for you, no matter what". Noh nodded his head while continuing to stare down at the ground. Phun grabbed both his arms and pulled him in for a goodbye hug. Noh didn't respond and his hands were still at the side. Phun patted the back of Noh's head as if giving him the assurance of his steady friendship and  commitment.

Noh lay in bed, thinking again. He drifted in and out of sleep. He saw Phun walking towards him and as he got close, it was Earn. He woke up and immediately reached for his phone. This melodrama had to end or he could end up in a hospital gown at a mental asylum. He couldn't do this to himself or Phun. In the deepest, darkest spot in his heart, Phun was already the one and he knew that there could be no two ways about it.

He had to clear things up - for his peace of mind and for Phun - the boy who lovingly accepted every part of him - even his imperfections, even his hesitation in owning up to his feelings.

"Hello, Earn?"

"Hi Noh - you're still up? I was just wondering if I should call you. Noh, that day..." he was cut off by Noh's first sentence. "I love Phun and I am going to pretend it never happened. It was a careless accident and I don't want to blame all of it on you. I am guilty and I am extremely sorry Earn. I have only one favor to ask of you  - please don't ever mention it and please try to forget." Click. The phone beeped in Earn's hand trying to repeatedly say that the caller had cut off their brief conversation, their friendship, their questionable relationship, abruptly.  

Noh let out a sigh. Was it relief? Was it an unhappy sigh? Was it a 'I got this' sigh? He was interrupted by a call from Ohm. 

"Noh, you up?"an excited Ohm rung through his tired ears.

"Nope". With that he switched off his phone and turned in for the night. He wanted a dreamless sleep, one that didn't weigh him down the next day. He just wanted to be his cheerful self. He wanted to be a part of everything that went on at school - The guys' guy! His  prayer for the night - please let this be the last of all awkward conversationS with Earn. May his memory be erased. May we go back to being platonic friends. May Phun never find out.
