A Goddess' Path

The Estate

Lilac's POV

We made our way back to the spot where dad left us. I turned to Alias and she smiled. Smiling back, we grabbed hands and started skipping away towards the estate. Alias started humming a song while I looked up to the sky. There's not as much smoke! That's good! right?  I thought to myself as we made our way through the trees.

However, our joyful skipping and playful humming came to a subtle end as we got closer to the estate. No sirens? Where are the firefighters and city guard? If they're already done, why didn't mom and dad come back for us? I look towards Alias, worry in my eyes. I'm sure she's thinking the same thing. We silently nod at each other and begin to crouch low and enter some nearby bushes. 

We made the rest of the way to the estate, careful to conceal ourselves amongst the bushes. What we saw scarred me for the rest of my life...

Lilac + Alias' POV

We stared in horror at the sight before us.

A humanoid creature, with its entire body on fire, a demon, was ripping apart our home. At least what was left of it. Most of our home was just ashes at this point.

However, scattered throughout the ashes were the bodies of the house's many servants, who had become like family to us. Then, in the center of it all, laid our mother and father, both beaten so much you could barely recognize them. The demon just continued to rip apart the houses remains, as if it were looking for something. The only thing we could do now is cry...

Alias' POV

At the sight of our parents' motionless bodies, Lilac broke down next to me. Her tears cascaded down her tan skin, her black hair covering her face. I look over not knowing what to do to comfort her. But one thing was for sure.

I was mad.

Without thinking, I stood up out of the bush, walking forward a few yards before yelling out to the demon.

"You just think you can come here and destroy our home?" I yell

The demon snarled in response

"Alias!" I heard Lilac yelling from behind.

I turned my head slightly to see that she had run a couple of the yards and was still crying.

Great, now I'm even madder.

I held out my hand to her. Hesitantly, she took it, standing tall by my side.

Her tears stopped.

"You think you can come here and kill our friends?" she screamed at the beast.

The demon let out a low growl at this remark. However, I was shocked. But what happened next was even more shocking.

Lilacs hair began to float behind her.

I stare, dumbfounded, but decide to go with the flow.

"You think you can come here and kill our parents?" I screamed in pure rage. 

The demon, agitated, started to charge us down.

My hair started to float just like Lilacs. I turned to glance at her and she to me. We gave each other a quick nod before turning towards the demon once again.

Our eyes started glowing brightly, our hair changing color. We floated into the air until we were about a foot off the ground.

The demon, still charging us down, was oblivious of our rage.

"You think you can come here and take away our happiness?!" screamed Lilac

"Well," I said. "Your dead wrong!"

Together we chanted.

"Come forth goddesses of the earth and sky!

Come forth goddesses of water, fire, earth, and air!

Come forth goddesses of life, death, sound, and silence!

Come forth goddess of the starry heavens!

UNISON RAID!"

The demon realized what we were doing. He attempted a retreat, but it was too late.

A ray of pure light, of pure rage, hit the demon head on. As the light hit the beast, the demon erupted into shadows, which then melted away into the dark of night.

Both Lilac and I were completely drained of energy. The last thing I saw was a woman dressed all in white carefully pickup Lilac and I. At first I was startled, but then she smiled. She had a warm and welcoming smile, and I knew instantly we were in good hands. With that, I slowly drifted off into sleep, as did Lilac.

This was going to be the start of a new adventure. I could feel it.
