The police found her early the next morning, as expected. I wanted her to be seen after all, she was a message, for Hwa-Young and the world. I couldn’t let myself get too excited though, so I went to work that day and returned home just in time to head out and find a place to scout for Stacy’s friend. I sat on a planter at the corner of a street, near a McDonalds, and pulled out my guitar, it was the perfect cover, and the sun was starting to set.
I waited there to see if the friend appeared, and/or was any threat for several hours, long after the sun had set, though many people passed in that time it didn't appear that any of them were looking for anyone in particular, and by 2:00am I had accepted that the friend wasn't coming, which was fine; it meant less work for me, and the less contact I has with people connected to my toys the better.
I'd be lying though if I said I wasn't at least a little disappointed that I wouldn't be having any fun that night, and I decided instead to see if anyone wanted to ‘get a drink’ with me, from which arose a new challenge, who the hell is out at 2 o'clock in the morning on a Tuesday.
Surprisingly it didn't take long before a young man with mint green hair was leaving the McDonald's and headed in my direction. Perfect, I thought, he's pretty, just like the rest of them.
As he got closer I sang louder hoping he'd at least say something, when he didn't I decided to make the first move. "Hey! You're cute."
He stopped and stood there for a second before responding
“Um... Thanks, I guess.” he replied, not even so much as looking up at me.
“How about giving me your number?” I laugh, setting my guitar in its case and taking a step towards him.
“No offence, but I don't think you're my type” he said, before turning to walk away.
Before he could go anywhere I grabbed ahold of his wrist. “C'mon, now” I demand more than I ask. This was getting frustrating, did he think I was less than him?
“Listen man, I'm a trainee who's on the verge of debut and you're some loser busking on a street corner at 2:30 a.m. on a Tuesday. I think I'm a bit out of your league.”
Of course he's stuck up, why would I expect anything different.
“Look kid, I don't know who you think you are, but I don't mean any harm. Come with me to the bar around the corner and I'll buy you a drink.” It wasn't a question at this point, he was coming with me be it by force or his own free will, I didn't care which.
“Why would I go anywhere with you? Just let me leave please. I'm not interested.”
Before I knew what was happening I pulled my guitar out of its case and hit him in the back of his head, the force of which caused him to immediately hit the ground unconscious. “Sorry kid,” I laughed to myself, “Wrong place wrong time. Maybe you should be more considerate.”
I hurriedly placed my guitar back in the case once again and loaded both my instrument and my new toy into the car, I sneered to myself and thought, this one will be fun.
