My life wasn't all bad. Of course, it sucked having no company other than my father's, but I guess he was better than no one at all.

Over time, my father had taught me everything I needed to know. I had learned Angels always held youth. We would never become wilted; always restored full of young energy. We were Gods creation and we were not to be under our full potential.

Time progressed and Father told me I didn't have any family besides himself, and I was completely my own kind of Angel. He told me of the other high Angels, known as the Archangels. The Arcs were like Fathers’ highest warriors; the strongest angels. A lot of times he referred to them as his equals. He had said I was the only Angel he would call his child. I asked why that was, but he only said I would find out one day.

There was the oldest; Micheal, who has blonde curly hair and blue eyes. Father said he tends to be the most serious of the Archangels. Michael was the eldest of them and he was the Angel of protection. Father had said if he placed me with age I would be the same age as Michael, and I would have grown up and learned with him.

Then, there was Raphael who was the second oldest. He had shaggy dark brown hair and light green eyes. Father had said if I ever met him we would be instant friends. He said Raphael was the most loving and generous. It makes sense because he's the Angel of healing.

Jegudiel was the third oldest. He had silky brown hair and pale blue eyes. The way Father described him was like bread. He wasn't overly uptight, but not overly friendly either. He was in the middle. I guess you kinda were just that way if you were the Angel of praise and punishment. I didn't understand what the Angel of praise and punishment meant when Father first told me. It meant he praised or rewarded those who did good and sent those who did bad to an unforgivable place.

I tried to ask where and what the unforgivable place was, but Father wouldn't let up on it, and it wasn't like I could ask someone else. That was the one thing Father would not tell me anything about, and I didn’t understand why.

Father said Uriel was always mistaken for the youngest. He had two younger brothers making him the fourth oldest. He had blonde hair and hazel eyes. Father said Uriel was quite a bit like Raphael, sweet and generous. That made sense too because he was the angel of good and light.

That left two brothers, Gabriel and Selaphiel.

Gabriel was blonde with brown eyes. Father said he was the most faithful and noble, and that's why Father made him his personal messenger.

Selaphiel was the youngest of the Archangel. He had long strawberry blonde hair and deep blue eyes. Father said he was a good one to talk to when you needed advice. Even though he was the youngest he had acted as if he was the oldest.

Angels all had their own gifts just like me. Of course, Father said I was a bit more special than them, but he never told me exactly how. This only left me with more questions, and Father wasn’t around too much to give me answers. I was just left with the billions of books lining the walls. Even then I wasn’t getting what I craved.

There would be times I was reading Angel History and then I would hit a part that wouldn’t make sense. It was like someone had taken out a giant piece of the book.

It was just like now. I was reading about the serpent who seduced Eve into eating the forbidden fruit. The first part of the book talked about Adam and Eve, and the fruit tree. The last part of the book talked about the serpent, and it was very limited. The texted mention and Angel in disguise who left God’s side, and betrayed the way of good.

I continued to read, but it didn’t say anything about who the Angel was and where they were now. The last few pages were blank as I flipped through them, and I almost closed the book completely but there was a page with some ink on it. I turned to the page and was greeted with an illustration of a man. His hair was dark and thick and had slight curls. His face was chiseled and sharp. His eyes held a questioning gaze, and his lips were plump and round. I couldn’t help to feel a connection to this man. At the bottom of the page was a name, but it was too worn from being rubbed against the other pages to read.

This was the first time I had read this book, but it looked like it had been opened a million times. Perhaps Father had an interest in this book or the man in the back. I thought perhaps maybe this was Adam, but something inside told me it wasn’t.

I stroked my fingers across the man's hair and jumped when I was taken somewhere else.

In front of me was a raging battle. There was bright pure light clashing against a dark wavering cloud.

I got some motion sickness as I was moved by a force into the heart of the war. In front of me was my father, gleaming in white armor. His opponent, the man from the picture. He looked so beautiful in this chaos. His eyes gleamed with a bright green. They were like the most precious emeralds.

I hadn’t realized I was walking until I stood directly in between him and my father. I stood there watching his face. His body let off an intense heat that should burn my skin, but it didn’t.

I reached my hand up to touch his cheek. As my hand came into contact with his face he stopped moving. It was like he could sense me, but couldn’t physically see me.

I held my breath once he looked down and our eyes met, and it was like he could finally see me. He reached out his own hand to my cheek. I smiled slightly as warmth filled my body and his thumb stroked my flushed cheek.

“Who ar-”

Before I could get my words out, the world around me snapped and I was back in the room with billions of books.

My heart was beating so fast. I place my hand to my chest to slow it down. I looked down, and my white dress had dirt smeared on it, and my palm were also covered with dirt and blood.

I raced to the mirror on the wall, and sure enough, there was soot on my cheek as well. Perhaps this was a sign that what I saw was real.
