I slept so peacefully, and I smiled once I saw Luc passed out on the sofa. He looked so different asleep.
His left arm hung off the couch while the other was hooked over his eyes. His right knee was propped up over the back of the couch and his left was straightened and hung off the end armrest. His 6'4 frame was far too large to be sleeping on the small sofa, and I felt bad. At least I knew the reason for such a big bed, even though he said he didn't use it much.
"I would appreciate it if you didn't drool over me while I was sleeping, Little Angel."
I jumped as his rich deep morning voice reached me. How did he know I was looking at him?
"I was doing no such thing. I drool over no one," I crossed my arms defending myself.
"Love, you're being very defensive," he smirked lifting his arm slightly to look at me.
"Hardley," I whispered to myself getting out of the bed.
I smoothed down the wrinkles in my dress with my hands and ran my fingers through my messy hair.
"I would like to do something other than sit in this room all day Luc," I commented still running my fingers through my hair.
"Alright," he groaned getting up from the couch. "I suppose I can show you around Hell if you are sure you have the stomach and heart for it."
Stomach and heart for it? What was that supposed to mean?
I shrugged it off and watched as he stood and stretched. Once he was done he stood there watching me too. There was that electrical crackling feeling in the hair again, and the hairs on my arms stood on end.
My heart pinched in pain when he closed his eyes and scrunched his eyebrows and looked away.
I crossed my arms behind my back and looked at my own bare feet. I could only wonder what that look was for, but I couldn't explain why it hurt when he looked away from me like that.
I looked up and he was standing right in front of me. "Let's get going then, Little Angel," he said softly tucking a stray hair of mine behind my ear.
I jumped back when his fingers touched my skin. A fire spread through my entire body, not because his skin was a fierce fire, but because something happened. It was like something in me was stirred, but not fully awake.
The breath from my lungs was stolen when he reached for my hand and pulled me closer into his chest. I was further shocked by his actions, why would he do something like this?
Not once before had he displayed a physical kind of affection, only verbal torment.
"I will figure out why you are so different, and why you are here, Little Angel. You can bet your life I will," he whispered sincerely.
The look on Luc's face suggested he had felt the same thing I did. I hoped after this he would refrain from touching me, as much as I did like his sweet gestures and the way his touch felt, I just wanted to get out of here with no strings attached.
"We should go," he whispered planting a soft kiss on my cheek.
I nodded and just followed. I was glad my breathing returned to normal once he stepped away from me.
As he started to show me around the only thing on my mind was a way out. There was this feeling in my chest that scared me. It was like that red hot feeling I had never felt before, although this wasn't a bad feeling it was good. But, it did scare me and part of me wanted to get out of here so it would go away.
I couldn't think straight here in Hell, and I didn't know if that was because of the place or because of Luc.
"So, what is Hell?"
I was hoping that if I talked my mind would be taken from thinking about these feelings and what they meant. I hoped this worked.
"Hell is where all human souls go after they've passed. They arrive in limbo for their judgment day where it will be decided if they stay or go to heaven."
"How do you decide if they stay or go to heaven," I asked as I quickened my pace so I was walking next to him.
"Well, there are seven sins, and if they have committed one of the seven while in their human life they stay here to pay for their sins," he stated as we turned a corner.
In front of us were large dark oak doors. Above the door in beautiful cursive was judicium, the Latin word for Judgment. I figured this is where souls are sent on their judgment day as Luc stated before.
"Is the Devil there at all souls Judgment days," I asked as he pushed the doors open.
"Yes, he tries to be."
I nodded looking around. There was a line of Human souls of all kinds, and the line leads into another building.
I was surprised the sky was red and the clouds were an even darker red. The ground consisted of dried sand and small pools of lava.
"If we see the Devil will you point him out for me, "I asked pulling the bottom of my dress up off the ground.
Luc just looked at me and chuckled. I still hadn't got what was so funny.
I jumped when a loud thunderous clap echoed in the sky. Lighting spread across the blood red clouds above.
"What's happening?"
"It's about to rain. Here," he said handing me an umbrella he conjured from thin air.
"Thank you."
Just as the red rain fell all the souls screamed out in pain.
"What's happening," I asked in a panicked voice.
"The rain is scorching hot blood. It burns the soul, I can't have you screaming in pain, Little Angel."
I reached my hand to the edge of the umbrella waiting for a blood drop to hit my skin, but one never came as Luc placed his hand over mine. Right after a little red dot splattered on top of his tanned hand.
I looked up and there they were again. Electric green with that slight wash of blue around the edges, but instead of red around his pupil it was slightly gold which I found odd.
