Pitch ducked, expecting Frost from above. Jack swung his staff and ruffled the hair on Pitch's head. He spun in the air and landed facing Pitch's back. Jack charged him and froze Pitch's shoulders; restricting his movement.

Then, suddenly, Jack was yanked to the ground by something behind him. He twisted his neck to catch a glimpse of his attacker but only saw darkness. His feet were lifted in the air, making Jack do a hand-stand and releasing his staff.

His feet were let go and he tumbled to the ground. He immediately grouped for his staff but it was gone. Jack sat up, all of a sudden very aware of how vulnerable he was. He jerked his head left and right searching for where his staff might have slid. As he often replied to the kangaroo, without his staff he was a guardian, handsome, and immortal.

The only problem was that was none of the above could save him without his staff. Jack heard a crack and turned around to see that Pitch had broken the ice around his shoulders.
