a/n: hello wattpaders!! Wassup? So I know you probably want to kill me for that, but, I just couldn't help myself. I'm so sorry....wait, no I'm not!!
Max's POV
I sat there mortified as Z just kept on talking, not even aware of what a monumental blabber-mouth she's being. I know it's just the candy why its like she has mouth diarrhea, but its still pretty crap. I mean, I don't even know how to BEGIN explaining this to Rillo. His eyes just widen the more she continues, and by the end of her little monologue, he looks completely disgusted. I try to explain, but he just shakes his head and walks away. Z, completely oblivious, sits there enjoying her candy.
Rillo's POV
What. The. Hell. Z cant possibly be serious, but I know that she is. Its like the candy is a truth serum. She cant possibly lie when she's in her sugar high. Max looked mortified, as she should be. But I mean, I guess I probably would be too. As a matter of fact, I am. The first girl ive asked out since.... I got up and shook my head, completely disgusted.
I walked out of the cafeteria, contemplating going to class, but when I thought about what I just heard, I just walked straight out of the building. As I burst through the front doors of the school, I broke into a sprint. After about half a mile, my sprint became a run. I wasn't sure where I was running to, but the rythmatic pounding of my feet on the concrete bought me comfort. I didn't realize that I ran to my house until I was at my front door. I pushed the door open and entered, sweaty, tired, and out of breath. I walked past the living room and up the stairs. I didn't realize I saw people sitting in the living room until I was halfway to my room. I retreated quietly and then poked my head through around the corner so that I could see in the living room. A wave of anger coursed through me as I saw who was sitting in the living room. My ex, Rachel. Her and my dad was deep in conversation, as if she wasn't a lying, cheating, good-for-nothing...... I stopped myself before I ended up punching a wall (its happened before.)
I couldn't bear to look at her anymore, especially since she seemed so comfortable in my house, almost as if she belonged, when I could barely call this house my own. I walked out the door as quietly as I entered and resumed my running. I ran out all of my emotions until I was physically and emotionally drained. What I really wanted to do was take a shower and go to sleep, but what I forced myself to do was continue running until I got back to school.
School was almost over when I arrived, which meant that I should've been staying for football practice, but like I said, I was tired. I went to my locker and got my stuff, then got in my car. F**k football practice, f**k school, f**k my dad, and most importantly, f**k Max. It seems like the only person who I could trust was Z. And trust me, that's a scary thing to admit, even to yourself. I took of down the road, going a hazardous 120 mph. For the second time today, I let my senses take over, and when I was done driving, I was sitting in Z's driveway. I knew that deep in my subconscious, this was exactly where I was supposed to be, but I still didn't feel comfortable sitting here. And I mean, wasn't my subconscious the one that brought me to my house, only to see my ex and my dad talking as if they were old comrades? Wasn't it the one that made me see her, that brought back painful memories? That wouldn't allow me to forget? So, knowing all these things, should I really trust my subconscious? I mean, would you?
While I was arguing with myself about whether or not to trust...well, myself, a car pulled up and the driver walked out the car. They were at my window, but I didn't realize they were standing there until they knocked on my window. I couldn't help but think to myself that I've been pretty out of it today. The person outside knocked o my window again, and I was starting to get pretty annoyed. Didn't they realize that I wasn't answering? I suppose this is how fish feel. When they knocked on my window the third time, I finally acknowledged their presence, but by shooting them a death glare. Come to find out, it was Max standing outside my window. Stupid subconscious!! How the hell did it lead me directly to her, I don't know, but I knew there was a reason I didn't trust it. 'But wait,' I thought to myself, 'What is she doing at Z's house?' and then I turned around in my seat until I could see that Z was in the passenger seat of Max's car. So Max bought Z home. I get it now. I turned to face Max yet again, only to see her soaking wet.
'When did it start raining' I thought to myself. Like I said, I've been really out of it today. But another thought crossed my mind as I stared at her, shivering from the wet and cold. 'She looks really sexy.' I couldn't help but mentally slap myself. Here I am, supposed to be mad at her, but I'm totally turned on. And concerned. I mean, Max is kind of skinny, and by the way she's shaking, she looks pretty cold. I wouldn't want her to get hypothermia. I think I was just giving myself an excuse so that I could wrap her in my arms. Not that I really needed one, because I got out my car and did it anyway. And in that moment that I held her in my arms, I knew that everything would be alright between us.
A/N:: so what did you think about that chapter?? I was feeling pretty sappy, hence the sappy ending, I must admit that I did like it though. It was interesting to portray Rillo mad since he's usually the happy-go-lucky one. Anyhow, you know the drill. Comment, vote, and fan if you liked it!
