Coleens Perspective

Whats your excuse this time? Sapphire asks.
Whatever do you mean? I showed up on time, as always. Offender answers.
Bull! I called you two weeks ago old man!
Oh. So you did. And I am not old!
Sure, whatever you need to tell yourself. Now come with me, Slenderman is waiting for you downstairs. He laughs.
Still hate my older brother I see. She smirks and nods.
Well, you're not wrong, but that's besides the point. Time to go. He follows her quietly.
She really hates Slender, doesn't she? Everyone looks towards Jane while I continue to stare after my cousin.
No, she doesn't hate him. Truth be told, I don't think she's even mad at him anymore. I answer with my head lowered.
Huh? What do you mean not mad anymore? She won't even look in his direction, let alone be around his presence. Toby speaks up.
I meant exactly what I said. She's not mad anymore, she just doesn't know how to go back to the way it used to be. When we were little, we traveled into Slender Woods. It was Christmas Eve and our parents had sent us out to play without jackets. Just when we were starting to get frostbite, Trenderman found us. He gave us matching sweaters to wear and brought us to the mansion. At the door, Offenderman greeted us with mistletoe hanging in the doorway. I laugh a little.
As soon as he saw us, he took the mistletoe down and gave us both a kind hug. Sapphire and I were so surprised we couldn't move, even after he let us go. Slenderman came next. He picked us up and set us in front of the fireplace. Moments after he set us down, Splendorman handed us both a mug of hot cocoa. Sapphire stood straight up, looked them all square in the faceand froze. Her lip kept twitching like she wanted to say something. Her eyebrows scrunched up like she was angry and wanted to yell at them. With an extremely quiet voice, probably the loudest she could muster, she thanked them. I look up at the group of people who were listening intently.
So you see, Sapphire knows how to forgive and be grateful, she just has trouble doing so. I give a closed eyed smile, then leave to my room.
