Pulling  into the usual senior hangout all thoughts of the vulnerable girl she had left in the school parking lot had completely  vanished from Rebecca's mind. As she walked into the mall she got one more than one head turns and whistles. This was the kind of thing that fueled Rebecca's ever growing ego. Turning on her heels Rebecca stopped at her favorite fashion boutique that was frequently visited. She walked without looking back with such assurance that everyone would follow her lead as they always do. Kaleb who was used to shopping with her took a seat near by because he knew that he wasnt going to leave for now.

After a half an hour of watching Rebecca, Kaleb got tired of sitting. He then got up to go try and talk to Rebecca. Strolling up to her he casually looked through and scanned the clothes nearby. Trying to start up a conversation he proceeded to ask a question. "So ...uhm Becca about what happened today in the school parkin......." he was cut off before he could finish. " What about it ?" Rebecca said with a completely emotionless face.Getting nervous Kaleb said "Uhm... I .. uhm dont you think....." , he was then cut off again by Rebecca who was losing patience quite quickly " Don't you think what" . Getting tired of being cut off he whisper shouted " Darn it, let me finish for heaven sake " avoiding drawing attention to them.

Rebecca looked like she was going to be quiet so he continued once again. " All I was saying is that. Dont you think it was a little harsh .... you know what you did to Jade". Processing what  Kaleb was saying Jade was slow to reply. " Dont tell me your sticking up for ugly duckling Kaleb... Are you? ". She had started that sentence with a joking tone but finished in a low menacing tone which told Kaleb that he should choose his words  wisely. " All Im saying is that Jade seems like a nice person and I dont think you should have done that to her. She didnt deserve it ."

"Look sometimes people like  Jade forget their place. Sometimes I have to remind her  because she is so forgetful" said Rebecca with such an innocent smile that you would never that she had beaten someone up not too long ago. The situation with the two girls had been going way too long and it was getting dangerously personal. Kaleb knew  that the  harsh treatment Jade received on a daily basis was going to leave both mental and physical scars. He decided that he wasnt going to drop the subject until Rebecca at least felt an ounce of remorse for what she had done.

" Listen Rebecca you hurt her not only physically but emotionally and all she did was stand up for herself , dont feel the least bit sorry for you actions". A look of tiniest bit of remorse was in her eyes but it left as quickly as it came. " No I dont feel sorry for her", "I you wanted to do something you shouldve stopped me , but no you just stood there", "So just drop it before I lose my patience with you " she said her last sentence in a dismissive tone that told Kaleb not to bring it up again. Even if he didnt get the message from her body language she walked away way too quickly for him  to utter even the slightest response.

Alone and with no one around to bother her Jade felt the creativity pulsing through her veins. Although she had been painting for quite a long time it still wasnt finished. Being on her feet for three hours really took a toll on her ankles so she decided to have a seat  at an antique desk that was in the far corner of the room. This was her father's old desk. Her had moved it down here after her father's death. Finally taking a seat she realized that she had been more tired than she thought. Jade never enjoyed  sitting down and doing nothing so she decided to look through the contents on the long abandoned desk. Looking through the first drawer she found  some old love letters her father had written to her mother. Opening them and reading what he had written reminded her of when  he  was alive. She felt tears well up so she closed them and put them back in the drawer.
