I was walking down the street, as I saw a billboard advertising JYP's new boy group.
'STRAY KIDS!'
I didn't bother to read anymore nor look at the picture as I moved into the subway, waiting for my train to go to work.
"This song is so good." I said, listening to the song they had put on the radio in the speakers. It was definitely a K-pop group, but I hadn't heard of them. The only group I listen to and follow is Day6, but I know loads of other songs.
I decided to get out Shazam, because my train had been delayed 15 minutes, and the song played again after a different song played.
They must really like this song.
I got out the app, and the app told me it was 'HELLEVATOR' by...
STRAY KIDS?
The new JYP group, but I thought they hadn't debuted yet.
I was confused, but soon my mind was put to rest when Google explained it to me.
I decided to take a bit of interest in them, considering Day6 was from JYP, I may as well give other JYP artists a chance.
I listened to their songs from the Mixtape album, as I got on the train and walked into work, and found out they would be debuting at the end of March, in only a few weeks.
"(Y/n), have you seen the new boys from JYP?" My colleague, Hyerin, asked me as I sat down at my desk. We are journalists, she works in the showbiz sector and I do headline news, crimes and such.
"Yeah, I listened to their Mixtape this morning, what do you think?" I asked, and she looked a little shocked.
"What's your favorite song and part?" She asked.
"Umm, well, HELLEVATOR and the fast rap part at the start, skills man, but I like all of the songs." I said, not really knowing.
"Do you want to know their names?" She asked, nodding, taking note.
"Yeah, how many?" I asked.
"There's 9." She said, and we had a 5 minute discussion before getting down to work.
Chan, Woojin, Minho, Changbin, Hyunjin, Jisung, Felix, Seungmin and Jeongin.
"I'll show you their pictures." She said at lunch.
As soon as I saw him, my face turned white.
"Bin.." I started to say, Hyerin noticed this and patted my back.
"And you know that part you said was your favourite?" She asked, I nodded.
"That's Changbin." She said, I nodded.
Thank you fucking life.
Changbin was my boyfriend for 2 years until he broke up with me to pursue his dreams, yet he never told me what those dreams were.
Now I know.
"(Y/n), as a reporter I'm going to their first fansign after they debut, do you want to come?" She asked, knowing I really liked Stray Kids though my ex was there.
"Let me think about it." I said, and about a week later I was traveling in the company car with Hyerin to the fansign.
He won't recognize me.
We got out of the car and entered through the back like all the press, whereas the fans went through the back.
"Hello, we are Stray Kids." They said, Chan, the leader, saying they would introduce themselves individually.
I wasn't listening to the introductions, until Changbin started speaking, and his cute yet deep voice made my heart jump.
"Hello everyone, I'm Seo Changbeannn." He said, doing aegyo, and all his members cringed so hard.
I couldn't cringe because I noticed he was looking directly at me after he did his aegyo.
"He's looking over." Hyerin said.
"I can see that bitch." I said to her, my gaze not wavering, until Changbin looked down and the introduction baton passed onto Hyunjin.
After the fansign, as I was helping Hyerin pack away her camera, a tall man walked up to me and asked me to come with him.
"Excuse me, but who are you?" I asked, not going anywhere with a stranger.
"I'm Stray Kids' manager." He said, showing me his badge and I nodded.
I followed him, not speaking and we ended up at a door with 'Stray Kids' written on it.
He knocked and entered, asking me to follow him.
"(Y/n)?" Jisung asked, many of the members I hadn't met before, Jisung and Chan I had met a lot.
I used to be a trainee, a year before Changbin came, when Jisung started and so I knew him and Chan pretty well, I left only a few months after Changbin came, my debut wasn't coming any time soon.
"Hey." I said, putting my head down.
"Excuse me, but why did you ask me here?" I asked his manager.
"I didn't-" He said.
"I did." Changbin said, grabbing my hand and pulling me out.
"Changbin, what are you doing?" I asked him, he slammed me up against the wall, slamming his lips against mine.
I pushed him off straight away.
"What are you doing?" I shouted at him,
"YOU BREAK UP WITH ME, NOT HAVING ANY CONTACT WITH ME, And now this?" My voice breaking at the end.
I didn't even realize but now I was crying.
"(Y/n)..." He said, smiling weakly.
"Don't mess with me." I said, "Chang- I still love you."
"(Y/n).." He started but I cut him off.
"Let me talk!" I said, putting a finger to his lips.
"You broke up with me." I said, he looked sad, "Leaving me broken. Changbin I loved you so much, and you just threw it away. I could have helped you, I could have supported you. You didn't even tell me why, it was just to 'follow your dream'. Bin, you just threw me aside."
He started to wipe away my tears, smiling weakly but I could see the hurt in his eyes.
"(Y/n), I never stopped loving you." He said, showing me the ring I bought him from my trip to Japan, my heart beating so fast.
"Then why?" I asked, hugging him.
"JYP said no relationships, but now, seeing how it affects my performance, he said it was fine to date, considering he knows who you are." He said, smiling sand squeezing my hand.
"Chang-" I said quietly.
"Don't leave me again." I said, Changbin kissing me again.
"I won't (y/n), not again." He said, smiling into my lips.
