I don't return his call.
I never do.
He rings for nothing, I hang up for everything.
This is what my life has become; this is what I've become. A puppet, controlled by multiple morons. But, I'm an obstinate puppet. I make my own strings and cut them off whenever required.
And I overestimate myself. I'm overconfident; something I really despise. For instance, this overconfidence always lands me in trouble. Be it seven years ago, or seven months ago. Fate practices what it preaches.
And today is no exception.
With this stinking attitude, I left my previous life behind. I ditched my best friend in ways that can't be forgiven. I've been a bitch, and maybe that's why I'm paying for it.
I try my best to not look back at the time when I used to be ecstatic and optimistic. I had a perfect life, a perfect job, a perfect room mate. Everything was perfect.
But then, he took charge of everything. And I let him.
I let him play tricks on me, and on everyone around me.
In Madeline's words, I became the worst fool of a Shakepearan comedy. What else can go wrong?
I'll tell you.
What I have is not a life. It's a mistake. It's a compatible combination of a mistake and a bag full of regret. I can't go back physically, but I surely can let my mind wander.
And I've internalised this extremely disgusting habit of gaping at couples in love. Their PDA glues my senses to a point where I can see nothing else. Maybe it's because I know I'll never be able to be in that position. Ever.
That's because I have ruined one relationship already.
And I don't know how many are in danger.
