It was starting to rain as Alek walked out of the house with his backpack filled with his belongings. He walked with his head down. At the end of the block, the man glanced back to look at the house he had once lived at. Alek looked at his phone as he crossed the street; it was only 6 in the morning. Arriving at the park, he muttered,"It's too early for this crap..." Not seeing anyone around, he sat on the somewhat moist bench and closed his eyes.

August was getting his daughter ready for her first day of first grade. He smiled as he helped her with her coat before they headed out the door to walk to the school. A few minutes later, as they were passing the park; they saw a man sitting on a bench by himself. The young girl tugged on her father's sleeve to get his attention. When he looked down at her with a confused expression, she pointed to the man on the bench and said,"You should talk to him." August shook his head and held her hand as they continued to walk. On his way home from the school, he saw that the man had moved and was now walking around the park.

When Alek saw the man again, he stayed quiet and didn't say anything, even though he thought the ginger was cute. August sighed and walked over to him with a blush dusting his cheeks. He nervously said,"H-hi..." Alek was surprised and softly replied,"um, hello." August, the ginger, finally said after a few minutes of awkward silence,"I'm August Long, sorry about earlier..." He smiled and held out his hand. Alek shook it and tilted his head as he responded,"Alek Køhler, nice to meet you. Why are you apologizing? You didn't do anything." The ginger haired man answered,"I didn't talk to you when I first passed you." The black haired one laughed and replied,"It's common sense to not talk to a guy sitting alone in the park so early in the morning." They were looking into each other's eyes and didn't realize they were still shaking hands until August said,"I should be headed to work. What about you?" Alek let his hand fall to his side as he replied,"I don't work today." Alek watched August walk away.
