A New Beginning

Ch. 11- Thanksgiving

A few days before Thanksgiving, August convinced Alek to go with him and Pandora to his parents' house in Indianapolis, Indiana. The day before they left, Alek helped pack all the bags and loaded them into the trunk of their small gray car. August was driving while Alek slept with his head leaning on the window, so when August went over a speed bump a few miles from their house, he straightened up and opened his eyes as he softly said,"Fuck, that hurt..." August lightly punched his shoulder and replied,"Put a dollar in the swear jar." Alek crossed his arms and responded with a smirk as he said,"Considering what you did last night, I think you should put a dollar in the sin tin." Auggie's face went red and he went quiet as Alek tried to go back to sleep. 

Though, a few hours later, they were in the middle of nowhere and Pandora put her book down as she yelled,"I need to pee! I'm about to pee, daddy! We need to stop!" August glanced into the rear view mirror at her and replied,"There's no place to stop except the side of the road." At this point, she didn't give a crap about where she peed, so she yelled louder than before,"PLEASE PULL OVER, DADDY!" Her yelling jolted Alek awake and he quickly looked back at her to try and figure out what was going on. August pulled over and looked back at Pandora as he calmly said,"Go into the ditch and wiz. Here's some napkins," he handed her the napkins and Alek just reclined his seat and closed his eyes. Pandora quickly got out and went into the ditch to wiz. When she was done, she got back in the car, she asked,"Papa? Do you have any hanitizer?" Alek sat his seat up as he answered,"I have hand sanitizer, but no hanitizar." She ignored him, but thanked him when he gave the sanitizer to her. 

Once they were at August's parents' house, the family of three got out of the car with their bags. Pandora ran up to the door with her parents following from behind. She rang the doorbell and rocked back on forth on her heels as she waited for one of her grandparents to open it. Minutes later, August's mother opened the door slowly; she smiled widely and hugged Pandora as she greeted,"August, I've missed you almost as much as I've missed Pandora!" Pan giggled and and returned the hug. Alek awkwardly stood next to Alek as the older woman continued,"And you brought your friend," she let go of Pandora and held out her hand as she said,"I'm April." Alek shook her hand as he responded,"Alek. Nice to meet you." April then said,"Go on and get your stuff, while Pandora and I talk." The couple nodded and went to the car where Alek asked as he opened the trunk,"Does she know that we're dating?" August got a few bags out and answered in a nervous voice,"No, not yet. I was hoping on coming out to everyone tomorrow at dinner." Alek got the rest of the bags and replied,"Wait, you haven't come out to your family yet?" He shook his head as he continued,"But I did sort of come out to Stacey and Pan." Alek slightly nodded and chuckled a little as he softly said,"What if Pan came out as pan..." August laughed and led Alek into the house. They placed the bags of ingredients for dessert on the counter and took their bags to August's old room. Pandora saw them and came to get her bag from them. 

The next morning, August woke up and checked his phone before trying to wake Alek up. The black haired man pulled the blankets over his head and grumbled something in another language. Auggie uncovered him and whispered in his ear,"There's donuts for breakfast if you get up," Alek kept his eyes shut, so the ginger continued,"There's probably chocolate with rainbow sprinkles~." Alek sat up quickly and bumped heads with August as he replied loudly,"I'm always a slut for rainbow sprinkles!" They both laughed as they put some clothes on because they had done some...interesting things the night before. 

When they were downstairs in the kitchen, they saw August's sister and her husband. Genna(the older sister) greeted the couple with a wide smile,"August! I haven't seen you since the wedding." Genna hugged her brother tightly. During that long hug, August smiled a little as he glanced over at Alek, who was holding a bowl of cereal and had a doughnut in his mouth as he headed back up to their room. August asked Genna when the were done hugging,"Have you seen my friend Alek?" She nodded,"Yeah, he's hot and tall." The ginger responded,"He's obviously taken, but so are you," he smiled, then headed up to where his partner had retreated. He walked into the room and saw Alek sitting cross legged on the bed as he ate the doughnut in a few quick bites. August sat next to him and used his finger and thumb to wipe away sprinkles and frostings from his lover's face. Alek smiled a little as he ate his cereal in silence. Though he soon broke the silence,"When are you planning on coming out?" Auggie softly replied,"Tonight at dinner..."

At dinner, August's entire family was sitting. Alek and August were sitting next to each other and across from August's parents. Everyone was happily eating and having nice conversations when August loudly said,"Um, everybody? I have an announcement." Under the table, Alek held his hand as the table grew silent. August took a deep breath before he hesitantly said,"I'm bisexual and Alek is my boyfriend and we've been dating for about a year and four months now and I just thought everyone should know..." The entire room was silent and Alek was looking at August with pride filled eyes and a smile. Pandora broke the silence and made it awkward,"They once dated the same guy at the same time." Alek's face went red as he quickly replied,"He was my boyfriend first and he got tired of me and met Auggie who was still with Stacey at the time." Genna's husband commented,"Aw, he calls him Auggie. That's really cute!" 

After eating, Alek helped clean up and wash dished, while August went upstairs to get their stuff ready to go. In the kitchen, April asked,"When are you proposing?" Alek shrugged,"Probably next year or in a few months. Or he'll propose." Alek put the dishes away and helped get the leftovers into containers. After doing all of that, he went upstairs to see August. He wasn't in the bedroom, so Alek laid on the bed and closed his eyes for a short nap. When he woke up, August was on top of him and Pandora was sleeping next to him. He smiled and grabbed his phone. He held it above them and took a picture.  

That night, Alek loaded up the car while August got their child situated in her seat. Soon enough, the family was on the road back to their home in Marrietta, Ohio. Alek was driving, so August could get even more sleep. The family got home at around three in the morning; Alek came to a sudden stop in the driveway to wake them up. August looked over at the man who had just gotten out and growled,"Why the hell would you ever do that?" Alek shrugged with a smug smile spreading across his face.Auggie sighed and shook his head as he carried Pandora in as Alek brought in the bags and set them down by the couch after locking the door.
