"I wish you luck on your quest." Valka said, as she waved to you from the mouth of the ice nest. "You are welcome to return to the Bewilderbeast's nest whenever you may need, now that you had been accepted."
"Thank you." Viggo replied, "I feel certain our paths will cross again one day."
"I join you in that hope. And be sure to inform me on what you find."
"We will." you replied. "And thanks again for everything, Valka."
"You're very welcome." she furrowed her brows a little, thinking "I always I thought I was alone out here. Just remember, it is those who make their own tracks who become great, not those who merely follow in the footsteps of others. I believe you two will go far, and look forward to the day our paths will cross once more. Until that day, farewell."
Both you and Viggo gave an understanding nod from the backs of your dragons, not taking her words lightly by any means. You would meet again one day; you felt sure of it. With that, both Amethyst and Sclera spread their wings, and propelled themselves into the air, beating their powerful wings forcefully against the strong, ocean winds. You briefly glanced back at Valka, whose features you could now scarcely make out, and the nest of ice that she stood upon.
'Yes,' you repeated to yourself, 'we will meet again someday.'
And now, here you were. Just you and Viggo again - the way it was always meant to be. You hadn't gone far before you asked:
"So, any ideas on roughly which direction this place could be?" you had no clue how far these vast lands stretched. As far as you knew, no one had ever ventured this far from the Archipelago before. But then, why would you knew if they had? There had to be more out there.
"I suggest we head north." Viggo commented, "that's our best bet, seeing as the Archipelago lies south."
"True." you replied. That was pretty obvious - why had you felt the urge to ask such a trivial question? Probably nerves at the prospect of delving into unknown territory. "It had better actually exist!" you added with a laugh. Deep down, however, a part of you was utterly serious.
"That would be nice." Viggo replied dryly, which earned him a snort of amusement from Sclera.
You flew north, keeping just below the clouds so that you could scan the ocean below, but were able to make a quick escape into the cloud cover if you needed to. Both Amethyst and Sclera flew within currents of air, hardly needing to beat their wings, due to the strong cushions of air that supported them from beneath their widely spread wings.
"(Y/n)." Viggo broke the silence, after clearing his throat a little.
"Yes?"
"May I ask you something?"
"Er, sure. Go ahead."
"Forgive me if I'm being intrusive, but when we discovered the ancient inscriptions in the cave, I believe you were previously saying something before we were interrupted by the flock of Night Terrors." there was a pause as you recounted the situation. " And, well, I thought perhaps it might have been important."
"Oh..." you looked down at Amethyst's nape, and then cast your eyes over your sword. You knew exactly what he was talking about. You had been discussing your sword - the one your father had given you. You bit your lip slightly. It wasn't that you didn't want to talk to Viggo about it - it was just that it was, well...difficult...complicated... You unsheathed your sword, and unfolded it, so that it was extended to its full length, the sunlight glistening on the surface, and shimmering at the finely sharpened edge of the blade.
