What are you?

You have done well, Chara. With that comedian out of the way, you would have less obstacles getting in the way. Now all you need is to rid the Underground of Undyne, and the rest will soon follow.

Chara couldn't help but smile as the voice he heard praised him for his actions. After all, killing Sans was always something he considered fun to do. He was a worthy opponent, but no matter what timeline they fight in, Chara knew very well that he would come out on top.

"I need to get to waterfall. If I can make it there, I'm sure I can find that stupid fish lady walking around somewhere. They will pay for what they did to me. Everyone will pay." Holding up the knife in his hand, Chara stared back at his reflection, loving how the blood stained knife added to his frightful image. "Better yet, I can make her come to me."

As the idea of having Undyne track him down unraveled in his head, he couldn't help but feel excited about it. He could already picture her face when she sees her beloved Alphys begging on her knees for him to spare her life. He could imagine the words she would say as she watches him plunge the knife into her lover's shaking body. The idea of watching that anger reach it's peak as dust that was once the scientist scatters away in his hand was so astonishing that he couldn't help but feel exhilerated.

In fact, he couldn't help but let out a laugh now. The idea of getting rid of two enemies at once made him overjoyed as he continued to walk towards his destination. Monsters that approached him were quickly taken care of, some of them mistaking him for Frisk. One by one, monsters fell, crying out for someone to help them. Knowing that someone was out there listening to their friends cries only encouraged him to go faster. The farther he got, the more he made a point to leave blood behind.

Meanwhile...
Frisk wasn't sure whether or not he had made the right choice, after all, he had never been told otherwise. He wants to help Chara more than anything, but what he didn't know is whether or not he made the right choice by letting Sans take him away.

Sans, who usually praised him whenever he did something to make him proud, made him wonder if for the first time he should give up on something. He, of course, understood his reasoning behind it. Sans just didn't want to see anyone else get hurt, but now that they see what Chara really is, he just can't ignore him. Chara needs help too.

On his way back home, he couldn't help but notice that some monsters were avoiding him. They stared at him with fear in their eyes, making him confused. He was their friend, so why would they look at him like he had betrayed them. Then he heard it. Some monsters were whispering "he only became friends with us to see who he would kill first" or "I always knew that Frisk would betray us. He doesn't care about us at all."

Frisk shook his head no, unable to believe what he was hearing. He loved the monsters, and would never do anything that would make them think otherwise. He had always stuck up for the monsters whenever they needed him too Why would they think he didn't care? Is it possible that they heard about what happened with Sans? Did they think that he picked Chara over them?

"What's going on? Why are you guys looking at me like that?" As Frisk took a step closer to them, most of them coward away. When his eyes landed on Monster Kid, he couldn't help but ask. "Why does everyone look so afraid of me? Did I do something wrong?"

Monster kid looked him over, noticing his friend's confused look before saying, "I'm sorry, Frisk, but my mom and dad says that I can't be friends with you anymore. They said they heard what you did. Is it true? Are you really turning your back to us? Would you really hurt monsters?"

"No! I would never hurt monsters. Why would I ever want to do that?" Frisk asked him, feeling a little sad that his friend would ask him something like that. "You have to believe me. You know me better than that."

Monster kid wanted to believe him, wanted to tell him that he would talk to his parents about this, but just couldn't. His parents were serious about this. They didn't want him around Frisk anymore. Especially after all the screams. Everyone knew about it. The screams resonated around waterfall, and lucky survivors swore they saw Frisk killing the other monsters. No matter how much he wanted to believe him, there was just too much against him right now.

"I'm sorry, Frisk. I can't do this anymore." With that Monster kid ran off, abandoning the human to the crowd of frightened and angry monsters.

Looking back at the crowd, Frisk couldn't help but feel a little frightened when some monsters surrounded him, calling him hurtful things, and challenging him to fight them. Of course, Frisk refused to fight, preferring action over fighting. Taking note of this, the monsters attacked him, pushing him around while lowering his hp down to five. Once they felt that Frisk had enough, they left him laying there, crying as he shouted out for help, but nobody came.

Papyrus, Sans, Undyne, Alphys, even Toriel and Asgore didn't show up to help him. He knows that Toriel couldn't help him, because she's at home, and Asgore was working. Undyne was probably with Alphys, and Sans was probably still angry at him, but what about Papyrus? Where was he when he needed him?

As he stood up to walk, he couldn't help but try to wipe away the tears that were falling down his cheeks. He wanted to find someone, anyone, to talk to. He didn't want to go home like this, knowing Toriel would be upset to see him like this. At this moment, he looked back, almost expecting to see Chara behind him, only to feel disappointed to see he was alone.

"What's going on? Why do they all look so afraid of me? Did they really think that I chose Chara over them? I want everyone to be happy," Frisk said as he thought more about it. Maybe if he talks to Sans, he could convince him that Chara deserves to be happy just as much as the monsters do. All they had to do was save his soul, which after last time, shouldn't be as difficult. Flowey absorbed six human souls last time, and he was able to help him. Why can't he help Chara?

"Oooh, hi Frissk," Napstablook said as he appeared out of nowhere beside him. Napstablook took notice of the tears sliding down the boy's cheeks before frowning a bit. He didn't want to see Frisk sad. Not after what Frisk has done for him. "Whhy are yooou crying?"

Frisk smiled, glad to have one friend by his side, and filled him in on what happened. Napstablook listened to the sad boy's story carefully before trying to come up with some helpful advice. Of course he's heard of what happened, but he only thought it was a rumor. After all, Frisk was one of the nicest people he's ever known. He could never believe that Frisk would do such a thing.

"Napstablook, what should I do? Everyone hates me right now, and I don't know what to do," Frisk asked as he looked up to the ghost.

Napstablook stayed silent for a bit before saying, "I'm noot suuure what you could do. I've never been asked this before."

With a sigh, Frisk thanked his friend for listening before saying he would find Chara. Although Sans told him it was bad, he couldn't just ignore Chara. Something was wrong inside him that brought that monster out in him. The question was though what had happened to him that caused it. Maybe Alphys has the answer...

Back with Chara, several monsters had been killed along the way to the lab. Chara's clothes were stained red as his thirst for vengeance grew. For all the marks, all the bruises on his skin, he was determined to make her pay. Sans is dead, leaving that weak, sorry excuse for a scientist all alone to find the experiment to separate the two boys. Once he has her in his clutches, Undyne won't be able to resist coming after him. Once her precious lover is gone, the fun will begin. No one would warn the monsters, and it would leave him to deal with the last remaining strong monsters to defend them.

As he walked into the lab, he couldn't help but smile as he walked down into the true lab. He didn't have to walk far until he came across the room where he found Alphys crying on the ground, a pile of dust and Sans's clothes in front of her.

When she heard him, she gasped in fear as she looked over at him. Chara, who's eyes were almost hidden behind his hair, creepily walked inside. "Ch-chara! Wh-what are you doing here! Wh-here's Frisk? What ha-have you done!"

"Hi Alphys, did you miss me?" He stopped walking as Alphys backed away in fear, grabbing her phone to call for help. She had already pressed two buttons when that smile on his face stopped her. Eyes blood red stared back at her striking fear into her heart as his words reached her ears. "I wouldn't do that if I were you. Unless, you want to lose your hand."

Despite the fact that she was afraid, Alphys knew that if she didn't listen to him, she would certainly die. No matter what she did today, Chara will kill her if he feels like it. She wasn't any use to him, not unless he still wanted to be separated from Frisk.

You caused much trouble for everyone, haven't you, boy? Your thirst for blood is definitely fearsome.

Looking around, Chara felt confused as he tried to find the source of the voice. It annoyed him to know that the voice was back in his head. It irritated him actually.

"What do you want now?" Chara asked, looking away from the frightened monster in front of him. Alphys couldn't help but feel a little confused about what was going on, noticing the sudden change in the killer. Chara, himself, didn't seem to know where the voice was coming from, but he was clearly hearing it loud and clear. "Who are you?"

I'm your friend, Chara. Your only friend. You see, I've been with you ever since your soul was lost to the darkness. I was there from the moment you chose to climb the mountain. I was there from the very moment you were chosen as the vessel for all evil.

"What are you talking about? My soul is gone. I gave up my soul a long time ago!" Chara shouted back. He thought about it, the time he came up with the plan to free the monsters. All he wanted was to save them. After all, he brought hope to them once upon a time. He remembered how he had died, his soul being absorbed by Asriel. He remembered how it felt to share his brother's body as he carried his own in their arms. He even remembered getting both of them killed, and the pain he felt as their souls shattered. "Who are you?"

"☟☜☹☹⚐ 👍☟✌☼✌📬✋❄🕯💧 👌☜☜☠ ✌ ☹⚐☠☝ ❄✋💣☜ 💧✋☠👍☜ ✋🕯✞☜ ☹✌💧❄ 💧☜☜☠ ✡⚐🕆📬" (Hello Chara, it's been a long time since I've last seen you.) Gaster suddenly appeared beside Alphys, picking up his son's sweater before meeting his eyes. "🕈☟✌❄ ✌☼☜ ✡⚐🕆 👎⚐✋☠☝ ☟☜☼☜ ✋☞ ✋ 💣✌✡ ✌💧😐✍ ❄☟✋💧 ✋💧☠🕯❄ ✡⚐🕆☼ ❄✋💣☜ ✌☠✡💣⚐☼☜📬" (What are you doing here if I may ask? This isn't your time anymore.)

Both Chara and Alphys looked over in surprise to the sudden appearance of the one and only W.D. Gaster. It was believed that something had happened to the former royal scientist that caused him to disappear. No one knew what exactly had happened, but there were some rumors from some of the grey monsters that he had fallen due to his own experiment.

Alphys stared at her former mentor with shock, unable to believe that the man she had respected so much was standing right in front of her. His face looked as if it were melting, and he couldn't speak like everyone else. This truly was the man who speaks in hands.

"Gaster? I remember you. I remember everything you had done to me, too." Chara put the knife down as he stared up at the tall spirit that was once the respectable scientist. Memories of the past rose up in his mind as Chara remembered how his life had changed the moment they met. Gaster was the start of it all. Gaster started his downfall. "Why don't you disappear while I finish up business here. This THING must die."

You see the more I stay here talking to you, the longer I can stall for time. The boy with true power, true potential, is almost here.) Of course, the child hated him. It was only natural for him to hate someone after being experimented on. Only, no one really knew what happened in those visits a long time ago. Those secrets remained only between he and the boy. Even his followers didn't know what had happened. I can fix you, Chara, if you let me. I can repair that of which you lost.)

"Alphys?! Are you here?" Frisk's voice resonated throughout the lab, letting them know he's here. "I want to talk to you about Chara. Please, it's important."

Alphys wanted to answer, secretly hoping that her silence would trigger something in Frisk, letting him know that she was in trouble. Of course, she would rather prefer getting rescued by her beloved Undyne, but it's not like she could complain right now. As long as the lab remained silent, then Frisk may get the idea to come back down into the true lab.

Chara, frustrated now, grabbed the knife once again before saying, "talk to him. If you so much as say anything about this, I will kill you! No, even better. If you say anything, I'll hunt down and kill Undyne the undying. After all, you don't put up a fight one way or the other. Not even for your little lover."

"Al-alright. I-I'll go and t-talk to him for U-undyne's sake," Alphys took a breath, trying to make herself calm down before walking out of the true lab. She forced a smile on her face as she walked over to her troubled friend, still hoping that Frisk would notice that something was indeed wrong. "Hi Frisk, w-what's the problem?"

While they were talking, Chara could hear as their footsteps sounded further and further away, letting him know that they were out of the true lab completely. Turning back to Gaster, he said, "you know very well that you can't fix what has been broken. My soul is lost, long gone. There's nothing you could do to ever change that."

"And why would you do that for me? As far as I'm concerned you always thought I was a bad kid, so why would you do something like that for me?" Chara asked, eyeing the scientist as he crossed his arms over his chest. "What would I have to do for you?"

Chara shook his head no. "Even if you can do that, what makes you think that's something I want? If there was a chance for me to get my soul back, don't you think I would have done it by now? Do you really think I would have waited years for seven other kids to fall down this stupid mountain to free me? My soul is gone forever, but this thing inside me is stronger than that. I like being a monster. I like knowing that I have the power to cause distruction. But mostly, I love knowing that once everyone is out of the way, I can easily just play again, forever and ever."

You have hurt many people in your life, child, but that power does not belong to you. You are not capable of freeing yourself.) With those words, Gaster disappeared, leaving behind Sans remains.

He silently apologized to his boy, thanking him for everything he had done for the Underground. As much as he wanted to save him, there was nothing he could do. Just like there was nothing he could do for Chara. There was only one person who was capable of saving them both.

As long as Chara had thought there was a chance, maybe something good could have come out of it. Maybe, just maybe, the boy could find some sort of peace with the thought of finally becoming human again.
