Reaching out for you

Before anyone can stop it, Frisk was killed. He was brought back to that dark room where he had last found a sleeping Chara in the flower bed. Only, instead of finding his friend, he found that this time, he was truly alone in this dark room. The feeling of being alone in here again was something he had to readjust to, but at the moment, he had other things to worry about more than his comfort.

"Chara! Chara, are you here?" He shouted out, growing sadder by the minute as the realization that his friend may not truly be here began to set in. "Chara! Where are you?!"

As if by a miracle, Frisk could have sworn he heard his friend calling out for him. He ran towards the voice, hoping to find the boy it belongs to. When he did, he found Chara crying, calling out his name as he stared out at the scene Player was showing him. Chara was staring back at Frisk's dead body, waiting for him to come back.

"Chara! I knew I would find you! Are you okay?" Frisk asked as he hugged the other boy, surprising him a bit. It seemed to him that even Chara didn't know that they would still be able to find each other here if only one of them is dead. Chara froze in his arms as if he were unsure that this was real, his red eyes unable to focus on his friend. "Chara?"

"Frisk? I can't beat him. I can't stop him from taking control!" Chara said, frustration in his voice as he quickly hugged the boy just as tightly as he was holding him. As much as he tried, Chara couldn't help but feel helpless in this situation. He wanted his body back more than ever before. He didn't like not having control, but it hurt him even more that he was the one at fault. If he had let Frisk help him before to remove Player, this could have been avoided. "You have to kill me, Frisk. I can't control myself, so I need you to do this for me. Kill me so I never come back. I can't let him do this to you anymore. I can't let him take away anymore monsters from you."

Frisk shook his head no, unable to believe that Chara was asking him to do this. After all, Frisk is a pacifist. He doesn't believe in fighting. Besides, now that he knew Chara personally, the world would never be the same without him in it again. He couldn't do that to his friend. Chara deserves a happy ending, just like the rest of them did, if not more so. Chara had been under this monster's influence ever since he died years ago. He needs his own freedom.

"I can't do that, Chara. Killing is wrong! Hurting that guy is the same thing as hurting you. I can't do it." Frisk said as he frowned over at his friend. He met Chara's eyes as he said, "I can't hurt you, Chara. I don't want to."

Chara hugged his friend before saying, "you have to. I know it's a lot to ask from a goody two shoes like you, but it's the only thing we can do. If I'm dead again, maybe we could reset this time line." That's when an idea came to mind, but he couldn't just come out and share it. After all, he knew Frisk wouldn't feel comfortable with it. "I can't control my body, but maybe I can help you with yours."

Confused about it, Frisk shook his head no before saying "how would you do that?" He couldn't help but be curious by what he meant by that because by the sound of it, Frisk would have to give up his own body. He wasn't comfortable doing something like that. There must be another way that they're not seeing.

Knowing his friend wouldn't like it, Chara responded, "by taking it for a bit. Basically, I would be doing the same thing that Player was doing to me. You would be able to see everything I do, but the difference between Player and I is that I would actually give it back after. We may look similar, but I would like to have my own body back."

Frisk shook his head no, thinking there definitely has to be another way. It wasn't that he was afraid of what Chara may do with his body, but more of a what if he gets stuck kind of thing. He remembered what had happened to Asriel the first time Chara tried to do something like this and couldn't help but disagree with him. Even if Chara said it was okay and that he would give him back his own body, there was no guarantee that he would be able to go back to it again.
