"you really thought you would escape?"
the boy took a shaky breath in. he could smell rain coming, as well as blood from the cut on his face. he was dirty, soil covering his olive jumpsuit. his hands were calloused and worn, knuckles bruised and bleeding from the fight just to get to the valley where he now stood. a nest of curly brown hair adorned his head, possibly the one feeling of home he had left. he couldn't remember home that well anymore. he was tired. years he had been playing this game of cat and mouse.
tonight was the end. an ominous clap of thunder echoed off the cliff walls as he answered the question of his superior.
"i have to try." he muttered, shuddering as the crimson cloaked monster made his way towards him.
"you are nothing but a fool. hadn't you seen the ones who tried to escape before you? or could you not see the vultures pick the remains from their tainted carcasses?"
white fingers encased themselves around tyler's neck, the rebel recoiling at his filthy touch. hand still wrapped around tyler's throat, he flashed a yellow grin.
tyler stared him down with fury in his eyes.
"i'll escape. and i'll defeat you. you, every one of your damn bishops. and i'll do it for every one who died at your mercy." tyler spat, staring up at his comrades coming up over the cliff. the band of rebels. it was a challenge to even get them here, past the bishops and the vultures. the wicked being had failed to notice his friends, cloaked in yellow. the ruler couldn't see yellow. only red, the color of death.tyler stared up as yellow flower petals rained down. the white hand loosened its grip on his throat, his stallion turning away to view the spectacle with his master.
now was his chance.
run.
