"I am going stock up on seeds for summer, Takakura. I know it's a little early, but I want to be prepared. Oh and for this season too," Before he could reply, Jill was already gone.
On her way to Vesta's farm, Jill's mind filled with thoughts of Celia and how she may very well be rushing things. But Jill could at least use a friend here in the valley. Especially one who could understand her aesthetic.
'Please let her be there, please let her be there,' Jill hoped as she was about to enter the neighboring farm. Yes! There was Celia about to open a greenhouse door. She tapped her shoulder and said,"Hi Celia! How are you?"
"Hi Jill. Doing great, but you look exhausted. Are you ok?" Celia asked concerned. "I'm fine, a little winded," trying to catch her breath "The thing about farm work is, raising the crops is very hard work, but watching them grow and develop can be a lot of fun, Do you like working in the fields, Jill?" Celia asked.
Jill wanted to be completely honest and say that she felt like a fish out of water. She was also starting to see the appeal when she noticed the tiny sprouts where there used to be only seeds in dirt. Jill replied, "I don't mind it,"
Smiling, Celia eagerly replies, "Good!" Happily sighing, Celia continues, "When I take care of the crops in the fields I feel kind of like they give some of their energy to me. I want only good energy, so sometimes I play happy music in the greenhouses, and they reflect that back to me. Everyone says those veggies taste even better than the ones grown outside without music." Blushing and getting flustered at her confession, Celia nervously giggles and asks, "You might think I'm strange for saying this kind of thing, though,"
Jill smiling says, "No. Passion is a beautiful and rare thing that we need much more of in this world. Passion is also needed for true success. Don't feel sorry for that,"
Celia blushes even more. After a few moments, Celia blurts out,"So do you want some help on your farm? I could help you out if you need some. I don't want to see you get hurt again,"Jill blushing slightly at her boldness nods yes. "Ok, let me just go tell Auntie Vesta," Trying to keep her cool, Celia walks in one of the two buildings.
Jill cannot believe what just happened. After a few minutes of disbelief, Celia comes back with a bag. "Um, what's that?" "Auntie Vesta gave us some complimentary seeds for today!" Celia said excitedly as she passed them to Jill. "Wow, that was really nice of her," Jill said surprised as she put them in her backpack. "Well, let's go. I really could use some help. I seem to get tired so fast..."
The two made their way to Jill's farm, as Jill listened to Celia's passionate advice. "And that is why you shouldn't get so physically ambitious this early on in your farming career. Just do what you can and learn for now," "Makes sense, really glad you are here to teach me today, Celia," Jill smiled as they entered her farm.
"So which field have you been using?" Jill pointed to the largest one. "Well let's see what you have done so far," Celia's humming was making Jill blush slightly again on their short way over to the biggest field in the back. "Hi Ms. Cow," Celia greeted her only cow. Jill's blushing intensifies with the thought 'This girl must be protected at all costs,' looping through her mind.
Celia kneeling down and examining the field said positively "Hey, these tomatoes look great so far! I was worried, but you seem to be doing fine," Jill looked down and scratched her neck, "Yeah but I feel like I am doing something wrong. I feel like I could be doing better, I feel dizzy all the time since I started.." "Are you moving too fast? Just till some more soil and plant these potatoes, show me how you did it before,"
The new farmer did as she was told and Celia pointed out some posture and pacing flaws she making. Jill had no idea how much she was pushing herself unnecessarily, no wonder she was so exhausted.
After the last of the seeds were planted, Jill decided to thank her guest with some cake Takakura had brought from the city. She invited Celia into her cabin. Before taking a bite from some strawberry shortcake, Celia smiles, "So I finally got around to watching-"
Jill had accidentally stepped on the tv remote "Love is in the air! It will come for many of you this-" Jill turned it off quickly, "I am so sorry, Celia" "It's fine, I forgot what I was saying though,"
Celia looked at the boxes everywhere and asked, "Jill, are you happy so far here? Do you plan on staying?" She didn't know how to answer again. Why does she ask these questions? "Um I don't know yet, I really hope so since it would really suck to move again so soon," she nervously laughed.
"I really hope you do stay, you seem like a fun person to hang out with and I had fun today, teaching you what I do every day," Celia said before eating some more of her cake.
Jill was speechless. She never meant this much to anyone before, especially to someone this sweet. Who knew coming to a place with a population this small would bring her what she has been looking for all this time?
Smiling, she replied, "Thanks, that means a lot to me. We should hang out some more. We make a pretty good team," Celia beams as she eats some more cake.
Knock Knock "Huh? I'll get that," Jill said heading towards the door. It was Vesta. Jill opened the door. "Hey, you two! Was my Celia a good teacher?" Vesta said as she entered. "She really taught me a lot today, thank you for the seeds today," Vesta smiled, "No problem, happy to help," "Auntie Vesta, want some cake?" Celia asked wiping some frosting off her lips "Sure if Jill is ok with us taking ours to go. Remember our plans tonight?" Celia perked up. "That's right!"
Jill confused asks, "Um what's going on?" Celia answers "Oh yeah I forgot to tell you earlier, every week Vesta and I paint some vases she brings from thrift stores in the city. We also make a bunch of cute crafts for people's gardens. We sell them online for a little extra money. It's fun and people really seem to enjoy what we make,"
"That sounds really fun, I hop-" "Want to join us?" Vesta asked without hesitation. Jill was so happy to be invited to something fun like this, and art is right up her alley. With a big grin, she accepted.
