“Damn, I did great.”
I just laughed at her and sat back down in my director’s chair so she could finish my make-up and finally get herself ready. We couldn’t let her look like crap.
“I know what you’re thinking, but I still have plenty of time to get ready.” She said off-handedly before dumping the contents of the second bag on my vanity counter. She grabbed base make-up and started beautifying my face. This took all of thirty minutes and then I was completely ready and then she headed off to the bathroom so she could get ready. While she was taking her shower, I looked in the mirror and saw what she had done for me. The first thing I saw was the smoky look she gave me that accented my light grey eyes. She had also made my cheek bones sharper and gave me bright red lips. I was very pleased and smirked at the mirror before grabbing the hat she had gotten for me and walking out into my kitchen.
It was about eight o’clock when Amelia came out of my bedroom dressed and ready to impress. She had gone with a deep purple dress that ended right above her knees and twirled with she walked. Her hair was straight but her bangs curled around her face and covered about half of one of her eyes. She had smoky eyes too, but she had light pink lips instead of deep red. Her feet were covered in silver heels that were only about two inches tall so she would still be able to walk and dance without her feet hurting a whole lot.
“You look awesome!” I commented and she thanked me before doing a twirl.
“You don’t look too bad yourself. Now, get a quick snack before we head out. It may be a while before we’re able to eat again.” She had a sly smile on her face and grabbed an apple off of the kitchen counter and took a big bite out of it. I smiled back and made a bowl of mini-wheats and grabbed an apple myself to eat at the kitchen table.
“So who’re these friends?” I asked her through a bite of cereal.
“You’ve met both of them. One is Arabella and the other is Sofia. They work with me at the studio.” Amelia explained.
I nodded along this and we just sat in silence while I finished my dinner and she finished her apple. It was twenty to nine when I put my bowl in the sink and grabbed a bottle of Dr.Pepper out of the fridge and put it in my bag so I’d have it for later if I wanted it. I also put in about three granola bars in my bag just in case I got hungry again.
“Well, you’re just prepared for everything, aren’t you?” Amelia snapped at me but she started to laugh afterwards.
“It’s best to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.” She was mouthing along with me as I replied.
“Hey, can we go now?” she asked me as I put on my lace-up heels and tied them.
“Yes.” I snapped at her and stood up, grabbed my bag and keys, and we walked out the front door. I turned around to lock the door and then we went and got in my car. I put the keys in, started the car, and backed out of the drive way. She began to give me directions as I turned on some music.
“So why the sudden interest in getting me a guy?” I asked her in casual conversation as we entered the nightly traffic. Friday nights in New York City were crazy.
“I figured that it has been a while since you’ve had one and I miss partying with you. Besides, you’re severely uptight.” She started to giggle as I punched her in the shoulder.
“I am NOT uptight!” I retorted as I signaled to change lanes and pull into the large parking garage that was close to all of the clubs in downtown. My college was in the center of town and there was a two-lane street that went straight to the clubs. My apartment was on this same road but it was up further than the school so this would be the road that we had taken.
