Imagine--Steve making a promise to Bucky to look after you while he's gone
"Are you sure?" Steve asks nervously. "Who else could I trust." Bucky says in a low tone. "Steve...I need you to tell her that I love her, I might...might be gone for a while, and I...I don't want her to forget how much she means...to me." Bucky says his voice cracking, and eyes watering. Steve grabs Bucky's metal shoulder. "I promise." Steve says and smiles reassuringly. "Protect her, look out for her, and stay by her at all times I don't want Hydra to get to her." Bucky says regaining his composure . "I promise." Steve repeats. "Bucky, where are you going?" Steve says concern rising in his voice. "I'm going to...to." Bucky says but lingers off. "Buck?" You say from the hallway. He snaps his head around, and curses. You just look at him worriedly, he's been very distant the past few days, and you don't know why. "What's going on?" You question, looking at the two of them. Bucky sighs deeply then replies with hesitation.
"Y/N I'm going away for a while." "No! You shout interrupting him. "You can't leave me again." You say choking on your words. "I'm going to come back, I promise." He says and walks up to you talking your hands in his. "I promise." He whispers before kissing you. You pull apart and hug him tightly, never wanting to let him go. Then all too soon he slips away without a word. He walks out of the room wiping away endless tears.
