Part 7- CMR

Ambers p.o.v

I went into shock, my hands flew to my mouth and I couldn't speak.

"What's wrong?" Molly asked from her bed, completely oblivious to who I was despite remembering me only moments before. I looked over at Harry, he was frowning at Molly, his eyes were red and he was sniffing, I think he was crying.

"Come over this way?" The doctor beckoned us away from Molly.

"What the hell just happened?" I hissed, walking after the doctor, Harry stayed frozen in place, staring harshly at his sister who had no idea who he was.

"It appears that Molly has experienced a Cognitive Memory Relapse or CMR for short. This means that she will experience dispositions and alternate in and out of remembering and forgetting parts of her life. It's possible that if you walk out and walk in again, Molly may well remember you and this is something that we need to work on and gradually coax her out of it without harming her. For now, you tell her that you're her carers and you're there to look after her" the doctor smiled sympathetically.

"Right okay" I sighed, slumping my shoulders.

"I'm so sorry" the doctor whispered.

"It's fine, not like it's your fault" I half laughed and walked back to Harry, linking my arm around his.

"Molly..." I began clearing my throat, "my names Amber and this is Harry, we're your temporary carers and we'll be looking after you, there are quite a few of us and you'll meet us all over time, but we're the first two, is there anything I can get you?" I faked a smile and my voice wobbled drastically as I choked.

"Can I have some water please? Thanks!" Molly smiled at us both, I couldn't meet Harry's eye as I walked out of the room and he grabbed my wrist.

"Ow get off me?" I asked, yanking at my wrist but he kept a firm grip.

"What the fuck did you do that for?" Harry spat, his eyes piercing into my own.

"Because that's what I was told to do" I snapped.

"But she's my sister, and she thinks I'm some fucking nurse? I haven't seen her for four years, this is a piss take" he grimaced.

"And you think I like this? You don't think this is hurting me too? Think again Harry. This is upsetting me just as much as it's hurting you, she means a hell of a lot to me, that girl, I think of her as my own sister, now get a grip..." I ranted, staring into his eyes, he released his grip from my wrist, I turned and without another word, started off down the corridor.

Me and Harry didn't speak to each other for the rest of the time we spent with Molly, not until we were leaving.

"Bye Molly, see you tomorrow!" I smiled and waved.

"Bye!" Harry grunted awkwardly and shuffled towards the door, not looking back, he slipped out of the door and Molly beckoned me back, frowning.

"Can I ask a favour?" Molly asked.

"Of course, what is it?" I smiled.

"Bring someone else next time, I don't like Harry, he doesn't seem to care and for some reason, I don't think he likes me either?" Molly sighed, twiddling her thumbs. I was taken aback by what she'd said, because in fact, it was quite the opposite.

"Listen, Harry's quite new to this job. He's not used to it. But I promise you, he does like you, he cares very much. You'll understand one day" I choked on the last bit. I wanted to cry and tell her everything, but I knew for her, I couldn't.
