The warm and cozy scent of coffee and freshly-baked goods danced in the air, hitting your nostrils and making your mouth water. Cafe Bangtan is what the quaint establishment was called. It was a new small business that opened up in town and you were always eager to trying out local shops and cafes, so you decided to drop in and see what the establishment had to offer. Glancing around the small business, you spotted seven male employees moving about, every single one of them looking like they stepped out of a magazine. You couldn't help but wonder how this place wasn't packed with customers, especially with all the good-looking men working there.
You sighed and scrunched your eyebrows as you perused the menu. You didn't really want coffee, nor did you want tea... though they did have a small baked goods section beside the register, which did pique your interest. Leaning over, you peered through the glass at all the pastries and small cakes that were on display. One of the employees walked behind the case and placed a couple more desserts inside. You paid no mind to him until he peered through the glass from the back of the display case and looked right at you.
Your surveying gaze froze on him as he flashed you a bright and friendly smile.
He's gorgeous. You thought.
Standing upright, he mirrored your actions, popping up from behind the dessert case. Unfortunately, you couldn't see his name tag from where he stood.
"Need some help, miss?" He spoke in a lively and welcoming tone, giving you the impression that he was a cheery individual.
"Yes, actually. I was trying to figure out what I wanted, but so many things look good."
"Well, we've got cinnamon apple muffins. Customers seem to like those."
"Ooh." You nodded. "Did you bake them yourself?"
"No, that's Jin's job. He's the best at baking. Anything he makes is guaranteed to be delicious. He's always experimenting with new things."
"Is there anything on the menu that you like? A personal favorite?" You inquired.
"I like the churros a lot—those and the cinnamon rolls."
"Then I think I'll have one of each, please."
"Alright." He gave you the total after tapping the touch screen attached to the register.
As you handed over some money, you read his name tag.
Hoseok.
Finally a name for the bubbly man that already managed to capture your interest.
"I'll get your order ready. You can go have a seat and I'll be out in just a minute." He winked and scurried off.
It took you a moment to process his little gesture, as it happened so quickly you nearly missed it.Moving away from the register, you made yourself comfortable at a table not too far away from the front counter. A loose string on your bag became your ultimate focus as you fidgeted with it, tugging on it and wrapping it around your finger. The sound of the door to the back kitchen area swinging open reached your ears, garnering your attention.
Glancing up, you saw the lively and animated barista with a cinnamon roll pinched between a set of tongs, gingerly placing it on a saucer for you.
His gaze lifted, scanning the area for any signs of you. His eyes met with yours and a smile broke out on his face instantly. Having his attention on you resulted in a faint feeling of embarrassment due to being caught admiring him from afar, thus making you avert your eyes. It wasn't until you heard the sound of the kitchen door opening and closing again that you looked back towards the counter, choosing to observe some of the other baristas.Hoseok emerged from the back kitchen area once more, carrying a second plate. He placed a churro on it and turned around to set it on the back counter. Your view was obstructed by the dessert display case, so you weren't exactly sure what he was doing, though it seemed like he was messing with the churro, perhaps trying to make it look presentable.
He collected the two plates just a few seconds later and carried them over.
"One cinnamon roll," He set the first plate down, moving to place the second. "and one churro."
When he set the sugary treat was put on the table, you noticed it was in the shape of a heart.
"Oh my goodness." A joyous giggle bubbled up out of you. "That's adorable."
"You like it?"
You nodded, endeared by the sweet gesture.
"It was a long shot, but I figured a cute girl like yourself might appreciate that."
"Cute?" You parroted, a faint warmth spreading along the apples of your cheeks at his words.
"Sorry. I meant super cute."
"Super cute?" Your eyes widened.
He nodded confidently and took a seat across from you, leaving on the table and resting his chin in his hands.
"Is this super cute girl also super single by chance? " He questioned, a hint of hope accompanying his tone.
"She's very super single." You giggled.
"It must be my lucky day." He beamed, his gleaming smile rivaling the brightness of the sun. "If it's not too sudden, would you like to go out sometime?"
It came as a surprise that he would ask you this, as it was hard to believe a guy as handsome as himself asked you out."Yes." The eagerness in your voice gave away just how giddy you were. "Yes. I'd love that."
"You would?"
"Yes." You gave a nod of confirmation.
Hoseok pulled his phone from his pocket, holding it out to you. "In that case, I'll need your number."
You took his phone and added your number to the contacts, passing the device back to him.
He glanced at the screen with a smile.
"I gotta get back to work, but I'll text you later... Y/n. Enjoy." He winked before walking back to the kitchen, leaving you completely flustered._____________________________________
