Now I have to start all over again. I didn’t want to but my mom said this job was too good to pass up and it would be a good start for me. Even though I didn’t want to leave my old life behind, I was kinda glad I am. I was able to get away from all the stress and constant questions of how I was doing back at my old school. Sure I had some emotional issues and needed to be watched but that didn’t mean people had to be complete stalkers and watch my life 24/7. Plus I wasn’t able to cope and get over my dad. I missed him dearly and wish that he would come back, but that was never happening. I feel I am letting go of my dad forever but he still is in my mind. I hope that I will never have to let him go and he will always be in my life.
The car ride was quiet as my brother, Drew, was driving to school. He was looking forward to this day, but of course I dreaded it.
“You ready?” he asked.
“Not really,” I replied.
"Why not? Its gonna be fun!"
"Why are you all excited? I already feel bad that you had to transfer your senior year just for me. I feel so guilty. You could have just lived with Grandma and Grandpa."
"And live in that mothball infested house? No way!”
He was able to get a smile out of me, but that was all.
"Besides, being with them would be too hard. I thought we were moving to get away from it all for a while. Dad would have wanted us to have a normal life even if it is a little ways away from our home," he said.
"I just don't want him to think we are leaving him," I said.
"People are taking care of him. We will visit him when we can," he says.
I don't want to go back to that day at all. Thinking about it already forms tears in my eyes. Drew breaks the silence and starts talking again.
“There is nothing to be guilty about. I did this for you and not cause I had to,” he said, putting his hand on my shoulder. “There are better sports teams here anyways. I'll get noticed better for football and baseball. I did this so I could look after you. You need me.”
"But I don't know anybody.'
"You know people from the football team!"
"But those are people who don't know me well. I mean I got to really know Chris but that’s it."
"You guys started to get really close as friends over the summer."
Chris was a genuine guy who is great to be around with. I was up at the weight room with Drew during the summer so I could work out too. When I needed a spotter for weightlifting, Chris was the only one left and we clicked. We hung out a lot with his friends so I knew some people, but it isn't the same. Chris makes me laugh all the time and he never is seen without smiling. He was there for me when I needed him most.
"True, maybe I can catch up with him," I said in response.
"Maybe my friend," Drew said.
Drew pulled into the school and found his parking spot. I grabbed my backpack from the backseat and pulled out my schedule.
"Know where your going?" Drew asked.
"I have no idea." I said.
"Yeah me neither."
I hugged my brother goodbye and went in the school. I double checked to see my locker number and headed upstairs. To my surprise Chris was right next to mine locker.
"Chris!" I shouted.
"Amy!" he shouted back.
He gave me a grin.
