Dominique Williams.
"Welcome to Freewill High, Jasmin." I unenthusiastically said to Jasmin, making a ta-da pose.
Not trying to be the stereotypical high schooler, I honestly didn't care for my high school. I wasn't involved in anything, never went to a game unless Dominic begged me— even then I barely would go. To say the least, I was the most non school spirited person at Freewell, and everyone knew it.
"You really don't like your school, huh?" She laughed lowly.
"That's an understatement. These kids, this town, I just want to go to the city. Being in Statesboro is for the birds." I complained. Statesboro had to be the most boring city in Georgia, that's why most people always go to Atlanta to even have a good time.
After showing her around and showing her how to get to her classes, it was almost time for our first period class.
"You know who Ms. Stout is?" She asked while furrowing her eyebrows.
I laughed at her expression, "She's the new art teacher. I never had her though."
"Oh, okay."
As I walked her to her first period, one of Dominic's friends walked up to us, mainly for her though.
He simply nodded in my direction and looked Jasmin up and down while licking his lips. "You new here?"
"Yes." Jasmin said nonchalantly.
"Lemme show you around?"
I rolled my eyes at his thirst. My poor cousin didn't step foot in this school for a good hour, but I knew guys would give her attention though.
"I'm good, love." she smirked at him and moved past him, and I followed suit.
I wouldn't say I'm an ugly girl at Freewell, but I knew I wouldn't get half the attention my cousin would be getting. I wasn't in the least bit jealous, the last thing I wanted to do was rush into a relationship while in high school, it just wouldn't last.
After finally making it to the art hallway and saying bye to Jasmin, I went to my own class, Creative Writing. It was only one of the classes I enjoyed, because it was the only class I had with Dominic.
"Yo, Dom!" Dominic cheered at my arrival and I rolled my eyes and laughed.
"Hi, Dominic." I laughed.
"Why you here later than me? You usually on time everyday?" He asked, seeming concerned.
"I was just showing Jasmin around and walked her to her first period, one of your little friends tried to show her around too." I stated.
"Who? Tommy?" He asked.
I straight faced him, he should already know I don't know any of his "mannish tail friends" as his mom called them.
"Dark skin with dreads?" he lifted one eyebrow.
I nodded and he laughed loudly, "Son! Marco gotta stop tryna holla' at every boujie girl he see." He shook his head.
I narrowed my eyes at him, "Don't talk about my cousin like that, Dominic."
Of course Jasmin and I wasn't that close and still warming up to each other, But she's still my cousin and I wasn't going to let anyone speak bad about her as she would do for me, I would hope.
